Zola Hattie Hemmann was born on July 12, 1927, to Rudolph and Bertha (Bartz) Hemmann. Zola attended school in Reeder, graduating from Reeder High School in 1945.
On January 31,1947 Zola married the love of her life, Earl G. Hagen, a local farmer-rancher from Reeder. Zola lovingly accepted the fact that farm tractors and other farm machinery would be her primary gifts from Earl, given to her with a smirk and a chuckle. They developed many friendships of so many young men they hired to help as well as their nephews who came to help in the summers.
They raised three children: Connie, Bruce and Allen.
Zola loved and enjoyed her family. Her church was very important to her. She loved helping people and was very involved in the community. Zola was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Reeder Lions Club, Dakota Prairie Enrichment Center, and Sons of Norway.
In 2018 Zola moved to the Sunny Apartments at Southwest Healthcare, and lived there for eight years. She continued to help and take care of whomever she felt needed a helping hand. Her apartment door was always open, offering coffee, something sweet, good conversation and laughter.
Zola was grateful for her 98 years of life. She repeated many times that she had lived a great life and was so blessed with a wonderful family and so many friends of all ages. It was time to say goodbye - she was so ready for Jesus to come and take her home.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Connie (Wayne) Johnson, Bruce (Cheryl) Hagen, and Allen (Waverly) Hagen, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Kelsey, (Steve), Nolan, Briggs, and Porter Gerszewski; Matt and Brayden Daley; Erin, (Kyle), Ari, Myles and Finn Brackel; Kevin (Paige), Adelynn, Barrett Hagen; Brian Hagen; Ryan (Kylie) Hagen.
Zola was preceded in death by her husband Earl, parents Rudolph and Bertha, infant sister Alvira Hemmann, sister Eunice Knutson, brother-in-law Merle Knutson, her dear granddaughter Amanda Daley, and their hired man whom they loved as their own, Charles Mattis.
