Tom "Grub" Fries, 65, of Scranton, ND, passed away on August 19, 2019 at the West River Medical Center in Hettinger.

Memorial Services for Tom will be on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Scranton. Pastor Mary Wiggins will officiate.

Tom Fries was born on December 29, 1953 in Scranton, ND, the son of Henry and Charity (Eide) Fries. He was raised and educated in Scranton. After High School, Tom enlisted into the United States Army where he proudly served his country for 4 years. Tom then attended Auto Body School for a few years. He returned to Scranton where he has since made his home. Tom worked many various jobs in the Scranton area including working for S & S Construction, Scranton Equity, the local railroad and helping local farmers. He was also trained to fight wild fires. He enjoyed many things throughout his life; from fishing, playing poker and visiting with his many friends. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

Tom is survived by his sister Bev (Willie) Kauffman, brothers; Roy, Jim (Tina), Jack, and Bill (Lorraine) Fries, sister-in-law, Kaye Fries and brother-in-law, Dave Kurth. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Henry and Charity, brothers; Teddy and Dick, sisters; Dorothy Ranney, Jane Sarsland Fries, and Ethel Kurth, sister-in-law, Diane Fries and brothers-in-law, Donald Ranney and Willy Sarsland, niece, Julie Ranney and nephew, Justin Sarsland and Todd Rose
