Richard Theurer and Sylvia Schriock grew up as neighbors and classmates in the one-room schoolhouse in their Carson community. As teenagers they fell in love and married Jan. 13, 1957, then were blessed with four lovely children and finally were blessed by a fifth child years later. They celebrated 60 years of marriage and partnership in many adventures. Dick and Sylvia never found a challenge they didn't embrace and this impacted many people's lives.
Sylvia (which means wood-nymph) found pleasure in all things in nature. She never found a rock she didn't love or a plant she couldn't add to an arrangement. The community benefited from her creative abilities to make any space more inviting.
Some of her involvements were as a 4-H leader, in Missionettes, as a landscape designer, a professional gardener, and providing help to the sick. She was passionate about others.
Sylvia's faith meant everything to her. It was deep, personal and steadfast.
She is proceeded in death by parents Alex and Martha Schriock, her sister Viola Hofer (Norm) and brother Allen Schriock (Theresa), daughter-in-law, Tai Theurer, and grand-daughter Erin Zittlow.
Sylvia's passing was sudden but her heavenly home-coming was her Christmas present that she will enjoy forever.
Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Services of Bowman in charge of the arrangements.
