Steven N. "Steve" Kromarek, 62, of Scranton, ND, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Richardton Care Center in Richardton, ND.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Scranton. Fr. Stephen Folorunso will celebrate the Mass with burial to follow in the Haley Catholic Cemetery, Haley, ND. There will be a Family and Friends service on Thursday evening, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Krebsbach Funeral Home Chapel in Bowman. Visitation for Steve will be on Thursday, from 9-9 at the Krebsbach Funeral Home Chapel and one hour prior to the Mass at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday.
Steve was born on December 29, 1952 in Bowman, ND, the son of Ludvik and Elizabeth (Heick) Kromarek. He was reared on the Kromarek family farm south of Scranton and received his education in Scranton where he graduated from Scranton High School in 1970. Steve then attended some college in both Wahpeton and Dickinson. Steve worked for 40 years on the railroad, first with The Old Milwaukee Railroad and then Burlington Northern Railroad. In 1991 he bought a house in Scranton but continued to work on the railroad until retiring in 2013. He enjoyed many things in his life from hunting and fishing, driving around the countryside, watching the Green Bay Packers play and playing cards with his buddies.
Steve is survived by his sisters, Cecelia Buckmier of Hettinger, ND, Sharon Paulson of Scranton, ND, brother, Bob (Kathy) Kromarek of Scranton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludvik and Elizabeth, sister Nita Kromarek, brothers Joe and Rick Kromarek, sister-in-law, Vie Kromarek, brothers-in-law, Edward Buckmier and Fred Paulson and niece, Debbie Buckmier
