Ruth M. Hinkley's Obituary
Ruth Hinkley, 93, of Bowman, ND passed away on May 31, 2011 at the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center in Bowman.
Funeral Services for Ruth will be on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bowman United Methodist Church. Pastor Val Rush will officiate with burial to follow in the Bowman Cemetery. There will be a Family and Friends service on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center Chapel beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Ruth Maxine Swanson was born on May 29, 1918 in Marmarth, ND, the only child of August and Anna (Chermak) Swanson. As a young girl, Ruth attended Crawford School and two years at Rhame High School where she graduated in 1936. After graduation, Ruth worked for two years for the National Youth Administration. She then attended Dickinson State Teachers College. After receiving her teaching certificate, Ruth taught for 28 years. Ruth met Art Hinkley in 1949 at a wedding dance and they were united in marriage on August 12, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Bowman. After their marriage Ruth and Art remained in Bowman. In July 2002 Ruth moved into the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center in Bowman where she has since made her home.
Ruth enjoyed many things throughout her life from square dancing, crocheting, sewing and making clothes and traveling. Ruth and Art spent many days pulling their camper and traveling out west.
Ruth was a member of the Wild Rose Club, Homemaker Club, the Southwest Retired Teachers and several groups at the Methodist Church. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law, Clarence and Charlie Hinkley and sisters-in-law Mary Thompson and Margaret Njos.
Ruth is survived by her husband Art, sister-in-law, Shirley Hinkley, Charlie's daughters; Sharon Ware and Linda Dawson; Mary's family; Carol (Ed) Malone, Susan (Chuck) Kadrmas, Jane (Terry) Glick, June (Gary) Preszler, Joan (William) Herauf, and Thomas (Tina) Thompson; Margaret's sons, Les (Bernice) Njos and Larry (Peg) Njos, Ruth is also survived by numerous great- nieces and nephews.
