Robert C. Peterson was born on February 8, 1927 to Charles and Ida (Manning) Peterson in Bowman, ND. There he attended school up until the 8th grade. He then performed various jobs in and around the Bowman area, riding a bike as his means of transportation for little money just to help keep his parents farm up and running. Robert started work as a mechanic working for Martin Septon until joining Bowman Sales and Service. He worked at Bowman Sales and Farmed up until 1989 when he went to being a full time farmer.
Robert married Phyllis Erickson on July 17, 1950. They resided in Bowman until moving to the farm North of Bowman in 1955. Robert and Phyllis were blessed with three children; Sheri, Linda and Larry during their 41 years together.
When Robert wasn't hard at work, he could be found at his favorite camping spot in Mobridge or Tobacco Gardens with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, playing a good game of cards, horseshoes and hunting. Often times he liked to joke with his grandchildren that they would never be able to match up to his stellar fishing powers and card playing abilities. He always remained the top fisherman and card player.
Sitting in the tractor plowing black dirt or lounged back on the swather cutting fresh alfalfa was relaxing to Rob. He enjoyed this time spent on his land and looked forward to reaping the benefits it produced.
Hunting with his grandchildren was another favorite, although claiming he was the best shot around, his grandchildren knew how to back him up when he was shooting holes in the sky.
Robert is survived by his three children, Sheri (John) Breen, Linda Lewton and Larry Peterson, sister; Beatrice Hughes, grandchildren; Jason(Jean) Bloomgren, Justin (Chris) Bloomgren, Jared (Cami) Bloomgren, Quentin Lewton, Mark (Amie) Peterson, Travis (Kati) Peterson and Chad Peterson, and numerous great grandchildren
Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ida Peterson, wife; Phyllis Peterson, brothers, Orrin and Orval Peterson, grandchildren; Dillan and Hailee.
