During the early morning hours of February 18th,  Dad passed away, after a short but hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer.

Dad was born on October 27, 1948 in Rhame ND, to Robert Ellsworth Shear and Dolores Marie (Thorson) Shear.  He was born second oldest in a family of 6.

During dad's childhood years he spent a great portion of them living in Montana.  His most lasting memories were made out there.  Dad enjoyed the Montana landscape and feeling crisp clean air and the Big Sky over head.

Dad greatly enjoyed fishing, especially catfish!!  If he ever caught anything other than a catfish it was promptly turned into fertilizer for the surrounding native flora.

Dad would tell stories of spending many days and hours with his Grandmother fishing for bullheads while drinking bottles of beer.

On June 2nd 1971, Dad married the love of his life, Mary Ann Wolf.  To this union two children were born, Ernie and Melissa.

In May of 2008 dad's life was forever changed when the absolute love of his life, his wife, Mary passed away.  He mourned for his wife until the day of his passing.

Dad had a fantastic green thumb.  He always had a gigantic garden every year.  While mom was alive, she canned most of the vegetables from the garden and the rest was given away.

Dad also enjoyed baking.  He loved to bake the "old recipes"  If he didn't like how it turned out he would throw it away and start all over.

Dad was a country man.  He was most at home on the farm.  He loved doing the morning chores, gathering eggs, feeding the critters.........

The most important part of the year for Dad was lambing season.  Dad was a true to heart sheep farmer.  No matter how big or small the flock, he could recognize everyone of them by name!

He loved to spend time in the lambing barn caring for the brand new lambs and mothers.   Dad had a great love for all animals........except mice!!

Dad's greatest passion were his grandchildren Katelynn and Jase Sauvageau.   They were the twinkle in his eyes.  Dad's whole world revolved around his grandchildren.  His days were filled with coming up with new things to spoil them.

Dad is survived by his children.  Ernie and Niki Shear of Scribner,  NE as well as his grand dogs Kya, Ranger and Mischa.
Melissa and Jason Sauvageau and their children Katelynn and Jase Sauvageau.
Brother: Scott, Emily and Ryan Shear of Bowman, Lori (sister) and Lonny Bagley of Billings, Mt. Connie (sister) and Ron Buchholz of Eagan, Minnesota,  Brother: Dennis Shear of Bowman, Sister in Law Janet Holt and family. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad will also be greatly missed by his loving friends Lee Wayne Richard, Vince and Ella, Allan Halm.  Just to name a few.

Dad was proceeded in death by his parents,  his loving wife Mary Ann Shear, sister Sandra Dubisar, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
