Rita J. Ehrmantrout, 70, of Bowman, ND, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Sanford Health Center in Bismarck, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Bowman. Fr. David Morman and Fr. Kenneth Phillips will concelebrate the Mass with burial to follow in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Bowman. There will be a Rosary and Vigil Service on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the St. Charles Catholic Church beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Rita J. Hewson was born on August 23, 1943, to Earl and Daisy (Remington) Hewson on their homestead in rural Slope County. Rita attended country school in her early years and later attended New England Public School where she graduated from high School in 1961. After high school, Rita attended Saint Joseph's School of Practical Nursing where she graduated on September 16, 1962, as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Rita began her career as a nurse working for St. Luke's Tri-State Hospital in Bowman, ND. On November 27, 1963 Rita was united in marriage to Donald H. Ehrmantrout at the St. Charles Catholic Church. They lived in Bowman where they raised two daughters, Lorna and Julie.
Rita was a devoted nurse and had a passion for providing quality care to her patients. She retired from nursing after 44 years and continued to care for her husband until his death in 2007. Rita enjoyed bowling, sewing, gardening, baking and canning. Some of Rita's favorites were her salsa and homemade jellies.
Rita was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She truly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved so very much. She will be greatly missed by all of her family, dear friends and neighbors.
Rita is survived by her children: Lorna Caron of Bowman, ND; and Julie (Daniel) Phillips of Parnell, IA; nine grandchildren: Miranda, Clayton and Jadyn Caron, and Shanlie, Autumn, Coltyn, April, Marlie and Carson Phillips; three brothers: Harvey (Donna) Hewson of Amidon, ND; Dewey Hewson of Williston, ND; and Roy (Fern) Hewson of New England, ND; four sisters: Earlene Schuhrke of Clawson, MI; Sherryl (Rodger) Ladson of Rosebud, MT; Beverly (Dave) Medalen of Willow City, ND: and Vivian (David) Dinius of New England, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Daisy Hewson; her husband, Donald Ehrmantrout; brothers Roger Hewson and Lee Hewson; and brother-in-law, Ed Schuhrke.
