Richard L. Krebsbach was born on December 1, 1944 in Minot, ND, the son of Leo and Evelyn McCutcheon Krebsbach. Rick was reared on the family farm near Max, ND. He also received his education in Max, graduating from Max High School in 1962. In 1963, Rick moved to St. Cloud, MN, where he attended St. Cloud Beauty School. Rick was always interested in being a Funeral Director. While living in Minneapolis, he worked for one of the local funeral homes which furthered his interest in one day becoming a funeral director.
In 1965 Rick was called to serve his country as he was inducted into the United States Army. On October 6, 1971, Rick was honorably discharged from the Army with the Rank of SP4. After his discharge, he returned home to the Max area where he married the love of his life, Kathy Meronuck on May 4, 1968. Rick and Kathy were blessed with three children, Richard, Nicole and Anthony. Rick worked in Minot at the Minot Grain Inspection until he purchased the Ranger Lounge which he owned and operated for six years. Rick still had the dream of being a funeral director so he sold the Ranger Lounge and moved his family to Mt. Hood, OR where he enrolled at Mt. Hood Community College. There he received his degree in Mortuary Science. He and his family then returned to North Dakota where Rick interned at a Bismarck funeral home. In 1983 Rick and Kathy purchased the Ohm Funeral Home in Bowman and it became Krebsbach Funeral Service. Rick worked very passionately and he was very dedicated to being a funeral director. He was a very compassionate and caring man. The families he touched and helped during their difficult times would agree. In 2010, Rick sold the funeral home to Trevor Kulseth due to health issues and continued to work and help Trevor with the daily duties of being a funeral director.
In Ricks free time, he could be found in his kitchen baking and cooking for his family and friends, or out in his yard gardening the many variety of flowers he was so proud of growing. One thing is for sure, whether Rick was inside, in his gardens or even traveling, his faithful companion Peek-a-Boo would be found by his side. They worked side by side and always found time to make sure supper was ready for Kathy when she returned home from work at the salon. Rick also always enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.
Rick enjoyed many things throughout his life, from visiting with his many friends and even sharing a beer with them on occasion. He was always there if you needed to talk and he had the gift of comforting you, even making you smile when things were tough. He also enjoyed spending countless hours working in his flower gardens with Peek-a-Boo, but most of all Rick loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Rick was a member of the Van Jones Post Legion in Rhame, ND, a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Bowman, ND and a member of the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association.
Rick is survived by his loving wife Kathy, his children Rick (Kristi) Krebsbach of Bowman, ND, Nicole (Matt) Lambourn of Bowman, ND, and Tony (Tiffany) Krebsbach of Minneapolis, MN. He is also survived by his grandchildren Dayton, Taylor, Bailey, Parker, Mason, Jake and Sawyer, his sister Luana (Lloyd) Ley of Watkins, MN and his niece Lisa (Ervin) Heinen of Watkins, MN.
