Richard (Digger Dick) Darrell Donner, 90, of Reeder, ND passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 16 th 2022 at Sanford Hillsboro Care Center, Hillsboro, ND. Funeral services will be on Saturday June 11 th at 11:00am at Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home with burial at Rose Hill cemetery in Reeder. Richard was born January 12 th 1932 to Ernest and Florence (Hovland) Donner in DeSart ND.

Richard served in the US Army during which time he served in Korea during the Korean war as a Harbor Craft Boatswain. After serving he was employed by Paven Port Contracting Company as a farm hand. He also worked for Wagner Brother Construction and this is where he got the nickname Digger Dick since he operated the drag line. He owned his own trucking business, worked at the Knife River Coal Mine and after retiring he worked for Steve Wagner farming.

In his younger years he played softball on a team in Reeder and boxed for the Golden Gloves. Later in life, he enjoyed having coffee time with his coffee buddies as well as playing bingo, eating cheese balls and chocolate bars, and drinking a bottle of coke. He especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and it was common for him to play jokes on them and give them "whisker rubs." He loved taking them fishing and may have been shown up a time or two by their catch.

Richard was married to Dorothy Wolf, to this union they had a son Rodney. He married Mary Sperle and they had three sons Tim, Todd, and Troy, and one daughter Tanya.

He is survived by, Mary Sperle Donner and sons Tim (Kim) Donner, Todd (Kristy) Donner, Troy Donner, daughter Tanya (Mark) Buethner, Dorothy Wolf and son Rodney Resner, Grandchildren Destrie (Mark) Baier, Brooke (Sam Johnson) Donner, Sylest Donner, Lois (John) VanDamme, Katlyn (Hunter Olson) Buethner, and Shauna Buethner. Great-grandchildren Sierra, Madison, Taylor, Sofee, Ryan, Kaidyn, McKinzley, and Marissa. Brothers Ronald Donner, Robert (Helen) Donner, LeRoy Donner, Doug (Kathy) Donner, sister Mavis Schlickeiser. And many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Florence (Hovland) Donner, brother Wallace Donner, sisters Betty Lien, Beverly Weiler, brother-in-laws Charles Lien, Robert Weiler, and Bill Schlickeiser. Daughter-in-law Beverly Donner. Nephews Wade Donner and Richard (Rick) Lien.
