Patsy (McGee) Braaten was born on October 31, 1932 to Ivan McGee and Frances (Stevens) McGee. Patsy always said, "She must have been s'pose to be a witch" being born on this day. She was raised on the McGee farm and stayed there until 1951 when she decided to move to Bowman. She became a waitress at the Clara Lincoln Hotel cafe, where she worked until getting  married. She married Marvin Braaten on December 17, 1952 at the Bowman Lutheran Church.

After their marriage, they moved on  to the Braaten homestead where they raised their four sons: Ron, Rick, Robin, and Sheldon.

Patsy was raised in a musical family. She always enjoyed listening to country and western music. She continued her love for music while raising her family, playing in three dance bands throughout her life. The last band being the Country 3, which many folks in the area can remember enjoying dancing to. Patsy wrote and copyrighted her own song, "Cowboy's Last Ride".

At the time Patsy became a homemaker and mom to her boys, she started entertaining family at Thanksgiving. Patsy and Marvin would host as many as 50+ people at the ranch south of Rhame. It was these gatherings that the idea of her cookbook, 'Feeding the Flock' originated in memory of her granddaughter, Kaydee Sue Braaten.

As well as leaving her family many recipes for great food  she also spent time making quilts, crocheting, and knitting afghans for all her grandkids and great-grandkids. She wanted them to have something she made to remember her by.

As Patsy grew older she still went to dances once a month and really enjoyed them. She continued to dress-up, whether going to town or going out-on-the-town, Patsy loved to look sharp and have some sparkle to her out fit. She especially enjoyed a compliment on her appearance.
Patsy enjoyed many activities. She was an avid bowler, gardener of both vegetables and flowers, helping her husband and sons with farm and ranch work, baking and preparing meals for her family. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran church, belonged to the the Bethany ALCW and served as president. She also served on the Bethany Church council. She belonged to the Kill Kare Klub and served as president for a time.

Patsy is survived by sons, Ron (Suzette) Braaten, Rick (Laurie) Braaten, Robin (Laurie) Braaten and Sheldon (Becky) Braaten, 14 grandchildren: Ryanna (Chance) Turbiville, Shane (Ginger) McCarthy, Kirbi (Tate) Brengle, Paden (Hailey) Braaten, Daulton, Colter and Chandler Braaten, Dylan (Abby) Braaten, Brady Braaten, Cody (Hannah) Braaten, Alisha (Austin), Hunter (Kim), Ellie and Walker Braaten.  6 great grandchildren, Sylvia, Sofia, Evie, Willow, Boone and Piper.  Brother, Junior (Theresa) McGee, sister-in-law, Betty McGee and brother-in-law, Larry Trainor.  She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, parents, granddaughter, Kaydee Sue, brothers; Morrell, James, Jiggs and Robert McGee, sisters; Marian Geortz and Betsy Trainor.
