Obituary

Nicholas Matthew Germann was born on February 16th 1992, in Hettinger, ND to Darwin and Colleen (Edwards) Germann. Nick was the baby of three kids and was considered the "spoiled one" getting everything he could ever want. Nick was raised on a livestock ranch outside of Rhame, ND. He attended Rhame Public School until 8th grade, then attended Bowman County High School where he graduated in 2011, with high honors. Nick enjoyed sports, he played basketball, baseball, track, Tae Kwan Do and was the quarterback for the Bowman County Bulldogs football team. Nick involved himself in many 4-H and FFA opportunities.

Nick was an avid livestock judger. Through all of his hard work and dedication, judging took him all the way to the National Livestock judging competition. He was named an All American recipient. Following graduation, his passion for judging livestock continued, at Northwest College, in Powell, WY, where he received a full ride scholarship to be on the livestock judging team. His keen eye for livestock provided him opportunities to judge at county fairs in tri-state area.

His passion became ingrained at a young age. You would definitely say Nick was, "raised in a barn." He started showing sheep with his family, which lead him to eventually wanting his own herd of Southdowns. He became part of the livestock showing family where he then became interested in pigs and cattle. Nick was a talented showman and won the FFA Baby Bison. He strived to learn all he could of the livestock industry through education and experience. Together with his brother, they started Germann Brothers Showpigs. Over the years Nick strived to build a herd of hogs and registered cows that would be successful and he was able to do just that. He leaves behind barns of pigs and Red Angus cattle that he was proud to call his own.

Nick was outgoing and adventurous. He loved spending time with family and friends, showing livestock, eating banana cream pie, cookie dough, branding with his buddies, fishing, hunting, playing pinochle and board games, especially marbles. He wanted everyone to feel welcomed and was willing to take the time to teach anyone his passions. He cherished his niece, nephews, and little cousins. Nick would make time for them whenever they called, visited, or text him. Nick had a smile that would light up a room and a laugh that you could identify from miles away. He always embraced the ones he loved and wanted to leave you with a smile. He had a heart of gold, and was always putting others before himself. He would lend a hand where he could and was willing to share his words of wisdom. Nick was dedicated, kind, and generous. He leaves an everlasting impact as a part of him lives in each of us everyday. He lived life doing what he loved along side his family and friends.

Nick is survived by his dad and mom, Darwin and Colleen, sister, Kristina (Nathan) Nitschke, Brother Derrick (Jordyn Brandt), Niece, Olivia Nitschke, nephews, Drew and Ty Nitschke, grandmothers Caroline Germann and Helen Edwards, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his shotgun rider, Buck.
He was proceeded in death by his grandfathers, Leo Germann and Bill Edwards.
