Nadine D.
Rea Ueno
Sep 21, 1963 — Oct 29, 2025
Bowman
A kind and caring friend to many left this world on October 29, 2025 to join her mother in Heaven.
Nadine Dell Rea Ueno was born to Grace (Kromminga) and James Rea on September 21, 1963, in
Albuquerque, NM. Nadine had complications of lymphoma cancer and kidney failure; she died in the
caring hands of the staff at the Monument Hospice House, Rapid City, SD. Graveside Services for Nadine will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Bowman Cemetery. Pastor Corey Jenkins will officiate the burial with fellowship to follow at the Bowman Methodist Church.
She attended Bowman Public Schools throughout her childhood and graduated from Bowman High
School in 1982. Nadine received an Associated of Science Degree from NDSU-Bottineau in 1985. Her
Aunt Jerry Rea Stebbins then encouraged her to further her studies at Dickinson State University. She
completed her Elementary Education degree at DSU in 1987.
Upon completion of her degree and teaching certificate, Nadine taught at Crown Point Community on
the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. She was a dedicated first and second grade teacher who helped
her students grow and prosper. Nadine sought the best from each child and challenged them to higher
standards and goals.
During her time at Crown Point, she met her future husband, Toshiaki (Toshi) Ueno through a mutual
friend. Toshi and Nadine were united in marriage on July 7, 1997, at Bowman Methodist Church. They
spent their first 13 years in Inazawa City, Japan where Toshi worked for an insurance company and
Nadine remained in the family home. Each of these years they would come back to Bowman to visit
family and friends for one week. Upon Toshi's retirement they moved to the north edge of Bowman,
where the couple resided until this time. Toshi and Nadine enjoyed each other's companionship
through the years.
Nadine loved to reminisce and visit with close friends. She was dedicated to her parents and to their
family farm located in Slope County. Nadine spent parts of many childhood summers in Iowa with her
Kromminga grandparents and cousins. She was involved with the Bowman Lions Club, Methodist
Women and supported close friends. The last several years she provided support to her parents as they
aged and developed health issues. Nadine was a lover of her dogs, Duchess and Lassie, who have been
recently adopted into their new homes in North Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace; her grandparents Art and Ruby (Stuber) Rea; her
grandparents Fred and Virginia Kromminga; her aunt, Jerry Rea Stebbins; and her in-laws Tomoe and
Kazue Ueno.
Nadine is survived by her husband, Toshi Ueno; father, James A. Rea; her aunts, Gloria Kromminga and Freda (Gordon) Smith;
her cousins Shawn, Chad, and Greg Kromminga, Robert Pope and family, the Stuber family along with
close friends, Dawn Heick and Kevin Thompson.
If you would desire to provide a memorial gift, Nadine requested that you please direct your gift to the
Bowman Methodist Church.
