Mary J. Pladsen, 83 of Bowman, ND, passed away on May 1, 2022, at the Southwest Healthcare Hospital in Bowman.

Funeral Services for Mary will be on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bowman Lutheran Church.  Pastor Renee Johnson will officiate with burial to follow in the Bowman Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 12-9 at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel.

Mary J. Schade was born on the family farm in Bowman County on September 24, 1938, the daughter of Gus and Alice (Phiefer) Schade.  Mary raised sheep on the family farm for years.  On July 5, 1974, after a 5-year engagement, Mary was united in marriage to Elwin Pladsen.  Mary spent most of her life caring for other people's children as they had no children of their own.  They had a daycare center in their home.  They both enjoyed caring for and rocking over 100 children.  Mary is survived by her sisters-in-law; Ida Schade and Inez Schade, nieces and nephews; Lynn Nielson and family, Loree Westbrook and family, Loren (Monica) Nielsen and family, Wanda (Rocky) Kinsey and family, Linda Suchy, Duane (Roma) Schade and family, Myra (Tom) Carrigan and family, Marlin (Debbie) Schade and family, Margaret Schade, Glen (Jennifer) Pladsen and family, Dwight Pladsen, Thelma DiMattio, Dwan (Bruce) Kinney and family.  Mary was preceded in death by her husband Elwin, parents Gus and Alice, brothers, Lyle Spencer, twin brothers, Herbert and Harold and sister Evelyn Nielson.
