Mary Irene (Larsen) Lambourn

Mary Irene (Larsen) Lambourn of Bowman, formally of Amidon, died at the age of 84 on February 11, 2010 at Southwest Healthcare Services LTC. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 15th at 2:00 at the Bowman Lutheran Church. A friends and family service will be held on Sunday, February 14th at 7:00 pm at Krebsbach Funeral Home. A visitation will also be held at Southwest Healthcare Service LTC from 2 to 4 on Sunday, February 14th. Mary's burial will be held at Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery in the spring.

Mary was born to Mr. & Mrs. Art Pippin in Talbot Township in Bowman County on October 10, 1925. At the age of 18 months Mary was adopted by George & Jessie (Backman) Larsen. Mary was raised and educated all of her years in Bowman, graduating in 1945. After high school, Mary worked at the grocery store in Bowman. On September 23, 1945, Mary was united in marriage to Bruce Lambourn at the Lambourn family farm, which is the same farm they worked together 60 years. On this farm they raised three children Donald (Butch), Thomas, and Linda.

Mary was a member of the Lebanon Lutheran Church in Amidon and served on many of their boards & committees. Mary was a Legion Auxiliary Member, Member of the Eastern Star, a 4-H leader, and a Member of Amidon Senior Citizens Center.

Mary lived in Bowman during Linda's high school years. During those years, Mary was a proud employee of the Sunset Home in Bowman providing compassionate care to the residents. In May 2006, Mary was diagnosed with cancer & spent endless months in treatment. The Southwest Healthcare Services returned the same compassionate care to her, from April 2007 until the time of her death.

As much as Mary loved her children, she very much enjoyed being Grandma to her seven grandchildren: Wendy, Travis, Marisa, Jennifer, Cody, Jessica, and Rachel; and her 13 great-grandchildren. Mary also helped raise her niece Ginger Groce and nephews, Jim & Ray Groce; and enjoyed having Gordon Gerbig stay with her family while attending school.

Mary is survived by her loving & devoted husband of 64 years, Bruce; her son Donald & his wife Lorna of Scranton; Tom & his special & always helpful wife Julie of Bowman; daughter Linda & her husband Leo Bartholomay of Sheldon, ND; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister Grace; Brothers-in-law Melvin Erickson & Burke Lambourn; and numerous nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her birth parents, her adopted parents, sister Shirley Erickson, birth brothers & sisters Viola, Mabel, Nellie, John & Leo.

The family would like to suggest memorials be given in Mary's name to Lebanon Lutheran Church in Amidon, the School of Promise of Bowman County, or a charity of your choice.
