Martha Brown, 84, of Bowman, ND, passed away on May 20, 2023 at the West River Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.

To follow Martha's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services.   There will be visitation on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 2-4 with burial to follow at 4 in the Bowman Cemetery.

Martha Carol Sense was born on January 27, 1939, the daughter of Robert and Julia (Nelson) Sense.  She was raised on a farm in Slope County.  She attended grade school at the Cottage School.  She graduated from Bowman High School.  After her graduation, Martha worked for various auctions, Bowman Sales Barn and the Bowman Variety Store.  Martha met Earl Brown and they were united in marriage on October 8, 1959 at the Bowman Lutheran Church.  Their first residence was on a farm south of Bowman.  On October 18, 1960 a baby daughter, Roberta Jean was born and passed away at birth.  On October 4, 1964, a second daughter, Julie Marie was born.  In 1968, the family moved to the Brown farm south of Scranton where they lived until 2000 and then moving to town due to failing health. Martha also helped out with Julie babysitting many of the local kids and became a grandmother to some of them.  The kids kept Martha busy.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Julia, husband Earl, infant daughter Roberta, brother Floyd, great niece Ashley and her favorite dog Sadie.

Martha is survived by her daughter Julie, niece Becky, grandnephews Justin and Austin and their families and many lifetime friends.
