Marge was born in Bowman, ND on August 31, 1943 to Peter and Elenora Koffler. She grew up north of Bowman and attended country school until the family moved to Bowman when she was 6 years old. She graduated from Bowman High School in 1961.
In 1961, shortly after graduating high school, Marge was working at Bennett Drug when in walked a dark-haired, handsome young man from the neighboring town of Scranton. This young man sure did like those malts served up by the sweet smiling Marge because he was known to stop for one every chance he had. On November 11, 1961 Marge married her soul mate George Reiger. Together they raised 4 daughters: Tammy, Cindy, Shelly and Amy. She loved her girls but was excited to add four sons-in-law who she considered her own boys. Marge loved being a mom but one of her greatest loves were her grandchildren: Kyle, Lexi, Brooke, Braxtyn, Staci, Jaxon, Jace and Averie. She then added two more grandsons to her brood when her two oldest granddaughters brought Jake and Adam to the family. Then, as if her heart could not get any fuller, little Miss Ellie Jo arrived in August a few weeks shy of her great-grandma's birthday.
Marge had a heart of gold and was always there to lend a helping hand, not only to her family but to all those around her. Her caramels and popcorn balls were coveted by anyone that was lucky enough to taste them. Each Christmas she would spend most of November and December preparing many kinds of cookies and candies which she would then share with those she loved. If she knew someone was having a hard time or just needed to be cheered up they would be the lucky recipient of a plate of her amazing goodies.
Marge worked side by side with George for nearly 48 years. They would have celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary on 11-11-11, something she always thought was neat. She served as WM president of the Bowman Assembly of God church for numerous years, putting her cooking and baking talents to use for many lunches and banquets. Camping and spending time in the Black Hills was a favorite for Marge and George. Nearly every Mother's Day was spent touring the hills and having a picnic at Roughlock Falls - rain or shine!
Marge leaves behind her children Tammy and Rod Maule; Cindy and John Reiger-Kempenich; Shelly Braun, all of Dickinson; Amy and Chad Getz of rural Scranton. Her eight grandchildren Lexi (Jacob) Cook and Staci Kempenich; Braxtyn and Jaxon Braun; Kyle, Brooke (Adam) Giannonatti, Jace and Averie Getz ; great-grandaughter Ellie Jo Giannonatti.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband George, parents Pete and Elenora Koffler, and son-in-law Curt Braun.
