Marie (Hafele) Morris, 78, of Missoula, MT passed away of February 10, 2012 in Missoula, MT.
Memorial Services for Marie will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Krebsbach/Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Mary Peterson will officiate.
Marie Hafele was born on February 22, 1933 at her grandparents; Pete and Kate Smith's home north of Bowman, ND. Her grandmother Kate was the midwife. Her parents Don and Verna Hafele were living in Slope County along the Little Missouri River and knew if the weather had turned stormy it would be hard to get to Verna's parent's home so she stayed with them a couple of weeks until Marie was born.
Marie and her sisters all attended grade school at Bullion View and Ranger schools. When the neighbors son, Robert Lee Hanson went to Dickinson to finish grade school, Verna then began to homeschool the rest of their children until moving back into the Bullion Butte school district again.
After getting her eighth grade diploma, Marie wanted to attend Beauty school rather than high school. When she finished the beauty school she came back to Western, ND and worked in Bismarck and Bowman. While living in Bowman, Marie and her sisters were exposed to the Gospel by an evangelist in the Methodist Church. She was a kind and caring person helping keep the younger children safe and also helping her folks whenever needed.
Marie and Clyde Morris were married in 1953 at Avon, Massachusetts while Clyde was in the service. When He was assigned to go to Iceland, Marie came back home to Western, ND where she practiced her profession.
Marie spent the last few years of her life in the Bee Hive assisted living home and then the Hillside Health Care Center in Missoula, MT where she passed away on February 10, 2012.
Marie is survived by her sisters, Marion (Wayne) Spethman of Paris, TX, Donna (Jim) Fritz of Belfield, ND, brothers, Joe (Donna) Hafele of Denver, CO, Peter (Angie) Hafele of Newell, SD and Louis (Cecelia) Hafele of Beach, ND.
