Mainard H. Meschke's Obituary
Mainard H. Meschke, 85, of Bismarck, ND, formerly of Bowman, ND passed away on February 26, 2014 at his daughters home in Miles City, MT.
Funeral Services for Mainard will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Bowman Lutheran Church. Pastor Charles Swanson will officiate with burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. C.S.T. in Mandan at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. There will be a family and friends service on Sunday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel.
Mainard H Meschke was born in Dickinson, ND on July 6 1928. The son of Charles and Caroline (Friedt) Meschke. He was raised and educated in the Dickinson area. He join the US Army in 1952 and served in the Korean War as a radar technician and was honorably discharged in 1954. He then entered the University of Minnesota graduating with a Bachelors of Science degree in Electronic Engineering in 1958.
Mainard owned and operate the Sims Cafe in Dickinson. He was a hospitality specialist for many hotel chains across the United States. Mainard moved his family back to Bowman in 1977 and purchased the Sharviar Steakhouse and Lounge. When Mainard retired he drove school bus for Bowman Public Schools. Mainard had a love and passion for cooking. He loved to shop at Menards and could find a dollar store anywhere. He loved to be in his pickup driving around. Above all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, attending as many sporting events as he could.
Mainard is survived by his daughters, Rachel (Dustin) Sloan and family, Miles City, MT; Diane Meschke and family, Dickinson, ND; his son's Dennis and family, Dickinson, ND; Wade (Amy) Meschke and family, Mandan, ND; Ryan (Tracy) Meschke and family, Bismarck, ND; His sister Marlene (Jerry) Schopp, Dickinson, ND; His brother Duane (Shirley) Meschke, Oregon. Mainard is also survived by his 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald Meschke.
