Obituary

Laura Mae (Lorenz) Cymbaluk, 95, of Bowman, ND, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Castle Manor
Nursing Home in Hot Springs, SD.

A Rosary and Scripture Service will be held on Sunday, April 15, at 7:00 pm at St. Charles Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Charles Catholic Church in Bowman, ND with the Fr. David G. Morman officiating. Interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Bowman following the service.

Mae was born on October 18, 1916, to Joseph and Alice (Allie) Lorenz at Bowman, ND, in the home that she resided in her entire life. She was so proud of that milestone.

Mae attended the Bowman Public School for 12 years and graduated Salutatorian in 1934. She then attended Capitol Commercial College at Bismarck, ND from Sept. 1934 to June 1935. Mae was then employed by the Bowman County Agent and County Superintendent of Schools for a few months, followed by employment by the Federal Seed Loan Office for 11 years.

On November 20, 1946, Mae married Peter Cymbaluk at St. Charles Catholic Church, Bowman, ND, in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Jo (Ed Yount).

In Aug. of 1949, a daughter, MaryJo, was born and became Pete and Mae's pride and joy.

The following years, Mae worked part-time for the ASC Office, Co. Auditor's Office, and Pond's Implement. In the early
50's she and Pete owned and operated Butler Steel Buildings, Artic Cat Snowmobiles, and Radio Shack, where Mae was the bookkeeper.

During this time, Mae was involved in many organizations. She was a lifetime member of St. Charles Parish. She served as a Greeter and Lay Minister in the Parish. Member of St. Charles Alter Guild; Charter Member of St. Jane Frances Circle; as well as the Catholic Daughters Court Fr. Tracy # 2121. She was also a member of the Monday Afternoon Rosary Group.

Other memberships included: the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #48 in which she held several offices; Red Cross Volunteer; member of the Cancer Service Team; Girl Scout Neighborhood Chairman; volunteer helper at the Sunset Nursing Home. Mae also took care of her aged Aunt who resided at the Sunset Nursing Home for over 9 years.

A great void in her life came with the death of her husband, Pete, in 1994. They had shared a happy life for 48 years.

"Grandma Mae" or "Miss Mae" (as she was called by residents and staff at the nursing home) was such a kind and loving person to all. Her absence has left a big hole in our hearts and family, but we know she will always be watching over us.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete, her parents, two infant brothers, and a sister.

Survivors include her daughter, MaryJo and son-in-law, Bruce Grill; two grandsons, Jeff (Diana), Brad (Trixie), and one granddaughter, Laurie (Vern Ward) and nine great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
