Lynn, Peterson, 63, of Bowman, ND, passed away on June 21, 2021.

There will be a Family and Friends Service on July 6, 2021 at the Bowman Lutheran Church beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 10-5 on July 6th at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel in Bowman and from 5-9 at the Bowman Lutheran Church.
Lynn liked to say he was born on a surfboard in San Diego, California. This isn't completely true, actually, none of that is true, but he sure thought it made for a good story. He was born in Chula Vista, California on November 3, 1957 to Roy Peterson and Harriet Cowling Peterson. He spent his formative years in Chula Vista, and graduated from a vocational high school, Del Rey, in 1976 where he learned to be the master carpenter that was to become his life-long profession and passion.
In 1968 his father remarried, and Sonia became the mom he always wanted and so desperately needed. Sonia brought 2 children, Vicki and David to the marriage, and along with his sister, Diana, they were now a family of 6 until the arrival of baby Danny. Lynn being the oldest child, pretty much terrorized the others, (ask them, they can tell you many stories of growing up in California with Lynn leading the pack.) In the early 70's his father took the family on a vacation to Nimpo Lake, British Columbia and bought a cabin there (it was really just a shack). Lynn fell in love with the place, and would spend his teenage summers working to improve the cabin there. Nimpo Lake would become his favorite place in the world.
For many summers, he and his family returned to Nimpo Lake and fixed that shack up into a beautiful vacation cabin which they all love and will continue to visit and make more wonderful memories; just as he would have wanted them to do.
In 1978, Lynn moved to Bowman (after being deported from Canada for working without a work permit). He and his father, started R&L Contracting and worked together side by side for over 20 years. They started out putting up grain bins, hot tar roofing, tree trimming and just about anything else they needed to do (that nobody else wanted to). It was during this time that he fell in with a group of young bachelors affectionately known around town as Pass Out Paradise. Suffice it to say the name speaks for itself, and there are stories too numerous to relate here.
Lynn had a work ethic like no other, something he instilled in his son and daughter. In his later years when he ached, he would say that he shouldn't have worked so hard, but we know he would not have had it any other way. Along the way he began to buy old houses and fix them up for rentals, thus, his company LP Rentals, was born. He liked to say he took a sow's ear and turned it into a silk purse. He took great pride in his renovated houses, and was a very good landlord to many, often time forgiving rent when times were tough.
In 1981 Lynn met Liz Burns, whom he swept off her feet and married on July 17, 1982. They spent the next 40 years together, loving life and laughing almost every day. Liz likes to say that she could never stay mad at him for very long because he would do or say something outrageous and make her laugh and forget why she was mad. One of Lynn's happiest days was when his son, Blane Allen was born in 1988, followed by another wonderful day in 1990 when his daughter, Patricia Lynn was born.
He and Liz both retired in 2012 and enjoyed travelling as much as they could. They bought a house in Arizona and began spending winters there. This was a great way to learn to relax and enjoy life. While there they made many wonderful friends and loved spending time in the sun.
Unfortunately, in 2016 Lynn was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's a brutal and despicable disease. So, in 2019 he and Liz decided to move to Littleton, CO to be closer to Blane and Trish, and thus were able to enjoy seeing the kids on a weekly basis over the next 2 years. As the disease progressed it became necessary to move Lynn into Willowbrook Place Memory Care in April of 2021. There he was lovingly taken care of by the staff for the 10 weeks he resided there. One cannot say that he lost his fight with Alzheimer's, because there is no fighting this disease, it randomly and senselessly takes almost everything away from its victim. In Lynn's case, Alzheimer's took everything else away from him but it couldn't steal his sense of humor.
Lynn had many accomplishments in his life, working on the Capitol Campaign for Southwest Healthcare and seeing the new hospital become a reality was one of which he was very proud. He was also extremely proud to have lived a life of sobriety for almost 27 years. He was able to do this with the friendship and support of his many friends in AA.
During the 5 years he suffered from Alzheimer's, he and his family were blessed to be wrapped in love and friendship from family members and innumerable friends. The outpouring of care, concern, compassion and friendship can never be repaid.
Lynn was dearly loved and will be missed by many. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Elizabeth Peterson, his children and their spouses; Blane and Samantha Peterson, Patricia and Ryan Lukanich, his mom, Sonia Campbell (Gary), his brothers; David (Shari) Peterson, Dan (Chris) Peterson; his sisters Vicki (Clay) Van Wey, and Diana (Jeff) Peterson, and an uncle whom he dearly loved, Joe (Peggy) Fisher. He leaves behind numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, many whom he teased relentlessly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Peterson, his grandparents, Gladys and Roger Fisher, Giles and Margaret Cook and George and Naomi Peterson, his in-laws, Opal and Allen Burns, and his uncle and namesake, Lynn Peterson.
Memorials may be sent to Southwest Healthcare in Bowman, ND or The Bowman Volunteer Fire Department.
