Lorraine W. Bowman, 96, of Bowman, ND, formerly of Rhame, ND, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center in Bowman.
Funeral Services for Lorraine will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Bowman Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark Nygard will officiate with burial to follow in the Bowman Cemetery. There will be a Family and Friends Service for Lorraine on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Bowman Lutheran Church beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Lorraine Wanda Lampe was born on March 25, 1920 in Elgin, MN, the daughter of Edward and Esther (Brugger ) Lampe. Lorraine received her teaching degree from Winona State College in Winona, MN. She taught school in Chatfield and Preston, MN and also in Rhame, ND. Lorraine met the love of her life, Albert, while traveling by train to Seattle, WA. They were married a few months later in Eugene, OR. They owned and operated a grocery store in Yakima, WA before the plains of ND called them back.
To this union four children were born: Susan, Bruce, Gwenn and Wendy. Lorraine left teaching and joined her husband to work at the Bank of Rhame. Her zest for life was infectious. She lit up when her 9 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren came to visit. She loved traveling and learning new things. Traveling took Lorraine and Albert to Europe, Russia, Iran, Mexico, Australia and all of North America. They had many lifelong friends from these trips. They loved the desert and bought a second home in Mesa, AZ. Lorraine loved gardening, grinding her own wheat for the bread she loved to bake, sewing and quilting, playing cards, and hosting her family and many friends. Because of her love for crystal, china and silver, she drug her daughters to Dayton's Department Store every chance she got even though the girls would have rather been looking at toys or clothes.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Elmer (Annabelle) and Bob (Pat) Lampe.
She is survived by her children: Susan (Roger) Berglund, Bruce (Teresa) Bowman, Gwenn (Bruce) Jones, and Wendy (Nevada) Jorgenson, grandchildren and their families: Bowman Berglund and Jason (Amanda) Berglund and their daughter Addison; Duane (Shannon) Bowman and their children, Kenley, Warner, Thomas and Branick Bowman, Eric (Andrea) Bowman and their children, Dillon, Livia and Grayson Bowman; Becky (Brandon) Mauck and their children, Annastyn, Maci, Maddox and Finley Mauck; Tiffany (Bill) Clendenen and their children, Cash and Haley; E.J. (Linsey) Jones and children, Maya and Zoe Jones; Cody (Tara) Jorgenson and their children, Bennett, Gracia and Brecken Jorgenson; Anne (Lee) Weisbeck and their children, Ambry, Hayva and Brynlee; sister, Diana Seaton, sisters-in-law, Mary Stith, Esther Robinson and Jessie Theim, and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Sunrise Foundation or the Southwest Healthcare Services.
