Obituary

Lois Kromarek, 78, Scranton, ND, died Thursday afternoon, October 20, 2011, surrounded lovingly by her family and in the arms of the loving and caring angels at St. Gabriel's Community, Bismarck, ND. Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday morning, October 25, at 10:00 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church, Scranton. Pastor Mary Peterson will officiate, with burial at Union Prairie Cemetery, rural Scranton. A Family and Friends Service will be held Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Krebsbach-Kulseth Funeral Service Chapel, Bowman, ND.
Lois Kromarek was born June 28, 1933, in Zumbrota, MN, the daughter of Clarence Lohmann and Vera (Oelkers) Lohmann-Kalisiak. She moved to Gascoyne, ND with her mom when she was 16. While attending high school at Scranton, she worked at the Albion Hotel where she met the love of her life. Lois married Roy Kromarek on November 7, 1951. Their song was the "Blue Skirt Waltz." Being 18 days shy of their 60th Wedding Anniversary is a beautiful testament to their love for each other. From this beautiful union they had seven children and later raised two grandchildren.
Lois was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Scranton, and the ALCW; member of the American Legion Auxiliary; the Golden Miners Senior Citizens Club; and Tops. Throughout her lifetime she worked at various places where she expressed her passion for cooking and baking. She loved watching the Food Channel and trying new recipes. We believe she had picked out her favorite recipes and decided it was time to share them in heaven. She also drove school bus for Scranton Public School for 18 years where she nurtured and watched her kids on the route grow and bloom. She loved playing cards with her friends. She loved to sew and did alterations for friends.
She leaves behind her husband, Roy Kromarek; three sons: Raymond Kromarek and Kim, Scranton, ND; Karl and Judy Kromarek, Aurora, CO; and Jereme and Marilyn Langerman, LaGrande, OR; five daughters: Melvina (Beanie) and Bill Rogers, Bismarck, ND; Vincentette (Vincie) and Roger Kubista, Bowman, ND; Marion and Harold Tysver, Bowman, ND; Tonya and Albert Tysver, Hulett, WY; and Jodi and Mike Tivey, Bowman, ND; one brother: Roger and Margaret Kalisiak, Delhart, TX; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren (and one on the way).
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Vicki Langerman; and one daughter-in-law, Becky Kromarek.
Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Service of Bowman, ND is in charge of the arrangements.
