Lillian was born on January 3, 1920 in rural Adams Co., ND, to Leonard and Anna (Fordahl) Quamme. She attended rural elementary school near their home and graduated from Hettinger, ND High School in 1939. She was employed as a county office clerk of Farmers Home Administration at Adams and Bowman counties. She also served as church secretary for First Lutheran Church of Rhame, ND.
Lillian married Oscar Rolfsness on June 30, 1948 in Hettinger, ND. They lived and worked on their farm east of Rhame until July, 2009. At that time they entered the Southwest Health Long Term Care facility where she resided until her death.
Lillian was a member of First Lutheran Church, WELCA, and Ruth Circle, Rhame, ND; Sons of Norway; former member of Harmony Homemakers, Thrivent representative; and served on the Marion Township Board.
Lillian was a very loving, giving, caring lady. She was a wonderful "favorite" aunt and like a second Mom and Grandma to many of her nieces and nephews, plus a loyal and devoted friend. She enjoyed reading, crocheting or knitting, crossword puzzles, working in her flower beds and gardens, playing cards and games, and photography. For several years Lillian and Oscar bowled in a bowling league and won many trophies. They also spent many Friday and Saturday nights with friends dancing at the Flagstone Terrace. Lillian was well known for the "scrubbies" that she made and gave to family, friends, and bazaars. She will be truly missed by all for her loving heart, warm smile, one-eyed pictures, and two handed waves.
Those thankful to have shared her life were: Oscar, her husband of 63 years; sister, Ardis Skaarvold, Hettinger, ND; sisters-in-law, Carona Quamme, Regent, ND , and Murl Gamble, Hemet, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Preceding Lillian in death were her parents; two brothers: Herbert and Ardmore Quamme; 5 sisters: Bernice Quamme in infancy, Helen Fadness, Eleanor Fadness, Dorothy Richards, and Lenora Clayton.
Rest in Peace! WE LOVE YOU, Lillian!
