Obituary

Leroy Russell Bohne, 65 of Gillette, WY, went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2015 at Close to Home Hospice House, Gillette, WY. A Friends and Family Service will be held on Friday, March 20 at 2 pm at Loaf Mountain Overlook in the Big Horn Mountains. On Saturday, March 21 at 1 pm at the Bowman Lutheran Church, Friends and Family Service will occur with the burial to follow at the Gascoyne Cemetery.

Leroy was born on February 2, 1950 to Russell Earl Bohne and Frances Irene (Hughes) Bohne at the hospital in Dickinson, ND. Leroy lived on the family farm/ranch south of Reeder and graduated from the Reeder High School. As a child, Leroy spent a lot of time with relatives in Ekalaka, worked on the farm and ranch, and liked to ride his motorcycle. In High School, he played basketball and held records with sit-ups and push-ups. Did pull-ups until finger grooves were worn in the trusses and built a pegboard to climb, in the garage.

Careers – Owned his Farm/Ranch from 1974-2003, south of Gascoyne – Worked at coal mines in Gillette from 2006 to present – Driving haul trucks and other heavy equipment. He was currently employed by Dennis McCoy and Sons and was a heavy equipment operator.

Leroy never displayed a lazy bone in his body; work was part of his daily routine. In his earlier years, he enjoyed helping his friends and family at brandings and any cowboy related gatherings. Later on in life, Leroy enjoyed his grandchildren. In particular, he enjoyed looking at their "smiling eyes". One of his favorite past times included going to the Big Horn Mountains and spending time camping and four-wheeling.

Leroy had many friends through his life. They ranged from fellow farmers and ranchers, to cattle buyers, to coworkers, and even troubled youth that he took under his wing.

Leroy had two children; Cory and Chris, three grandchildren; Cody, Cole, and Mattie. The grandchildren were his pride and joy. Leroy enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, listening to their stories, telling them stories, and just spending time with them. He always wanted to know about how they were doing in school, how their animals were doing, and which sport they were playing next.

Leroy is survived by his two children, Cory (Tami) Bohne and Chris (Justin) Bloomgren, sisters; Carole Page and Denise Robinson, brother; Denny Bohne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Frances Bohne.
