Laurel Hansey, 86, of Bowman, ND died on October 16, 2011 at the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center in Bowman. Funeral Services for Laurel will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Bowman Assembly of God Church. Pastor Junior Hoilien will officiate and special friends and former pastor Marcus and Elva Bakke. Burial to follow in the Bowman Cemetery. There will be a family and friends service on Friday, October 21, 2011 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Bowman Assembly of God Church. Visitation for Laurel will begin on Friday morning at the funeral home.

Laurel Wayne Hansey was born on April 12, 1925 near Scranton, ND, the son of Selmer and Rose (Hoth) Hansey. He was raised in Talbot township and received his education at Bowman High School. After Laurel graduated, he formed and played in different bands around the area. He later entered the United States Army and served during WWII. After his honorable discharge, Laurel took flying lessons, bought an airplane and married JoAnn Hoilien, the love of his life. They farmed and lived in Talbot township and Bowman. Laurel was a very talented musician and played the trumpet in the army band. He could also play piano, organ, accordian, saxphone and more. He also loved to sing. He was a very giving person, very caring and devoted to his family. He will be greatly missed by his familly and all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Dennis Hansey and grandson; Tracy Hansey.

Laurel is survived by his wife JoAnn, four children; Larry Hansey of Scranton, ND, Gary Hansey of Bowman, Gene and Mary Lou Hansey of Bowman and Judi Sime of Grand Forks, ND, 8 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren, brother; Meryl Hansey and special friend, Muriel of Wahpeton, ND, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
