Kenneth farmed the family farm. On August 23, 1947 he married Genevieve Peterson from Gascoyne, ND. They raised their daughters on the family farm near Scranton. His passion was farming. Kenneth raised small grain and cattle. He took great pride in getting into the field early. One year he stated he was in the field by March 11. He also took pride in his straight fields and clean summer fallow rows. As an extension of farming, Kenneth worked for the ASC office measuring grain bins. While measuring bins Kenneth met many farmers throughout the county. Kenneth was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a lifetime Knights of Columbus member. He was a member of the Scranton Miners Senior Center. He served on the Scranton Township Board and the Scranton Public School Board during the time when the new school was built. Kenneth enjoyed traveling across the United States with his wife. They traveled by car or went on bus tours with family and friends. One of the most memorable trips was when he took is family on a Cruise around the Hawaiian Island in 2000. Kenneth enjoyed playing horseshoe, attending auction sales and playing a good game of cards. He loved when his family came to visit. Kenneth was known for his kindness and generosity. He was always willing to help a friend and neighbor in need. He eagerly shared his wisdom and treasurers with his daughters and grandchildren. In his gently way he taught his daughters and grandchildren about using "common sense". Because of a decline in his health, Kenneth moved to the Bowman, ND Southwest Health Swing Bed in August 2013, where he lived until his death. While living there he made friends with the staff and residents and hardly missed a night when he did not call his daughters to share the activities of the day.
When asked what was the best part of his life he stated " My family."
