Karen was born February 18, 1964 in Ellendale, ND to Cleo (Jorgenson) Sabe and Keith Sabe, the first girl and last child born. When she was 4 years old, the family moved to Riverton, Wyoming, where Karen graduated high school. Karen then moved to Houston/Baytown, Tx. After getting married in Texas, she gave birth to her son Jason Allen in 1985. On May, 27, 1989, Jessica Raye was born. Directly after, Cleo and Keith sent her their only credit card, and Karen moved back to Riverton. In 1990, Karen fell in love with Steve Klocksiem, and married him in 1991. In the same year, Steve adopted Jessica Raye, and in 1993, Elizabeth Anne was born. The girls were the light of her life. Karen was working at ASAP Radiators while she lived in Casper, Wyoming. Steve passed from brain cancer in May of 1998 after 5 years of a fight.. In early spring of 1999, Karen found love again with Eddy Heck. Karen moved her and the girls up to Bowman, ND, in early summer of 2000. Eddy and Karen were married in Deadwood, SD on June 10, 2000, surrounded by their friends and kids. In this union, Karen gained two wonderful sons. Dominic and Desmond. She loved them like her own. In June of 2003, Karen, Eddy and the girls moved to the Yellow Rose Ranch. While renovations where happening along with haying season, at the end of June, Eddy had a small run in with a baler. Mom was a trooper. Even though she hated the "tin can," she made the life flight trip from Bowman to Minneapolis with Eddy. When they came home, the neighbors pitched in and helped finish the inside, gutting, putting up sheet rock and all of those details to the ranch house. Karen, Eddy and Elizabeth lived in a '70s camper and Jessica chose to sleep upstairs in the house, as that part of the house was not being renovated. Karen enjoyed ranching so much. It was just what she was made for. She loved all animals, especially her own. She had saved and loved all that she could. On June 22, 2010, Karen and Eddy's first grandchild was born to Desmond, Ryden Cash Heck. Karen and Eddy loved him so much. He was perfect. After that, Katelyn Raye Miller was born to Jessica and Dwight on October 10, 2011. Momma loved her grand babies, they were everything. She very much enjoyed her first two grand babies. Then came Maryann Rose on October 29, 2015 and Coy Dwight, on May 5, 2020. In 2022, Karen was life flighted to Bismarck and diagnosed with COPD. She fought for 10 days in the hospital before being able to come home. She did very well for a year without constant oxygen and needing extra help. In 2023, Elizabeth married Cole Ritcher and in that union, Karen gained 3 more grandchildren, Gracie Laine, Kylie Faith, and Cade Gregory. Karen got pneumonia around Thanksgiving resulting in the need for her to be on oxygen almost 24/7 which, limited her quite a bit. Karen was friends with a lot of people. She enjoyed lunch at Kruger's Kitchen in Rhame and cards at The Waterhole Bar. She often made new friends of people just traveling through or newcomers to the community. Karen lost her best fluff friend, Bear, this summer at the ripe age of 13. You never saw one without the other outside when Karen was able.
Karen is proceeded in death by her parents, Keith and Cleo (Jorgenson) Sabe, brother Loren Sabe, her in laws, Lynn and Anne Klocksiem, her son, Jason Allen, husband, Steve Klocksiem, her baby Bear, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her husband, Eddy Heck, her daughters, Jessica (Dwight) Miller, Elizabeth (Cole) Richter, her step sons, Dominic and Desmond and her grandchildren, Ryden(15), Gracie(15), Katelyn(14), Kylie(13), Cade(10), Maryann(10), Coy(5), brother Dennis Sabe, Aunt Rita Sabe and Uncle Norris Sabe and many cousins.
