Joshua Reisenauer, 44, of Spearfish, South Dakota, passed away unexpectedly on July 13, 2025, leaving a void his family cannot fill.

Josh was the beloved husband of Deb Reisenauer and a devoted stepfather to Katie Pierce. He was the cherished son of Bernard and Lori Reisenauer.

Josh was born on November 17, 1980, in Crosby, North Dakota. In 1984, his family moved to Bowman, North Dakota, where he attended Bowman County High School. Starting in eighth grade, Josh quickly became known as a standout wrestler for the Bowman Bulldogs. His wrestling career was marked by numerous tournament championships, culminating in his achievement as the lone Bulldog to earn the Region Championship title in 1998.

Josh married Patty Hegle in 2002; they later divorced in 2010. In 2015, Josh found lasting love and companionship when he met and married Deb, beginning a joyful new chapter in his life. Josh celebrated his love for Deb, and they created many happy memories together. Their love for each other was effortless, rooted in mutual respect, laughter, and a shared love for the adventure of travel. Deb's passion for art and baseball became something they made a part of their life together.

For seventeen years, from 2006 to 2023, Josh worked for Luff Exploration Company, a North Dakota-based oil and gas producer. His time with Luff was marked by dedication and hard work, and he valued the many friendships he built through his career in the oil field.

Josh and Deb moved from Bowman to Spearfish, South Dakota, in 2023, bringing along their beloved furry companions: Tilly, Romi, and Burchie.

Josh made a career change when he joined Simon Centennial Rock Quarry, where he quickly rose to the rank of foreman. This hard-earned opportunity gave him a more balanced schedule, giving him and Deb cherished weekends and holidays together, filled with golfing, riding side-by-side through the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. Deb and Josh loved music and trying new recipes, often turning up the volume and dancing around the kitchen while they cooked.

Josh and Deb affectionately called each other "Bueller" so often that, when they made new friends in Spearfish, many assumed it was their last name.

Josh was known for his kindness, reliability, and warmth. His genuine nature, quick wit, and infectious smile and laugh will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

Josh's love for Deb naturally extended to her daughter, Katie. He took pride in being a steady and caring presence in her life. He cherished their connection and offered her unwavering support. Their bond was built on shared humor – sending memes and filling conversation with laughter.

A house full of boys meant plenty of rowdiness and wrestling matches — even as adults. Bernard and Lori raised gentlemen who grew up knowing the importance of kindness, respect, and answering any call for help. Josh carried these values throughout his life, showing unwavering dedication to his brothers. He was always there for them, offering a helping hand or a listening ear whenever they needed him.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jeremy and Jade Reisenauer,  grandparents, Lawrence and Drucilla Reisenauer, William and Patricia Welch, and Tom Huffman, father-in-law, Leroy Farber, uncles Greg Stensland, Matthew Reisenauer and Greg Reisenauer and cousins Cody Reisenauer and Bradley Abrahamson.

He is survived by his wife, Deb Reisenauer; his stepdaughter, Katie Pierce of Shakopee, MN; his parents, Bernard and Lori Reisenauer of Bowman, ND; and his brothers: Jory (Lauren), Jaron, Joelan, and Jacob Reisenauer and mother-in-law Barb Farber. He is also survived by his grandmother Maryann Huffman, and his nieces and nephews: Alexia, Addam, Shelby, Blake, and Roland.

The family asks that you remember Josh not for the way his life ended, but for the way he lived—with joy, with loyalty, and with a heart open to others and celebrating the profound impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, Josh's family suggests memorials be made to the 'Josh Reisenauer Memorial Fund,' and sent directly to Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Services, Box 401, Bowman ND, 58623. Memorials will be shared with Josh's favorite charities.
