Jerome John Maychrzak was born on April 8, 1937. He was raised on the family farm southwest of Bowman, ND. He was the oldest child born to John and Lydia (Graff) Maychrzak. Jerry, and his 5 siblings learned the value of a honest, hard day's work as they tended to the farm.
Jerry began his education at the Lone Tree School near the family farm. After competing grade school, Jerry began his life long passion of farming full time. He later joined the Army where he proudly served his country as an MP with the 1st Cavalry Division. During his service time he was deployed to Korea where he and his fellow MP's were tasked with maintaining peace following the Korean War. Upon completion of his military obligation, Jerry returned to the family farm where he resumed farming and ranching.
On May 20, 1972 Jerry married the love of his life Sharon (Feist) Maychrzak. They would continue to reside on the family farm for the next 22 years before moving to Bowman. During those precious years, Jerry and Sharon raised their 3 children: Natalie, Neal and Nolan. Jerry took great pride in providing for his family by planting/harvesting crops and raising cattle. He tirelessly worked the land and became skilled at his craft, tending to his herd of cattle and repairing/maintaining farm equipment.
Jerry and Sharon later moved to Bowman where he was often seen making his long trek to the post office or walking to the nursing home to spend time with Sharon. He became somewhat of a regular as he spent countless days with Sharon prior to his own residency at the nursing home.
In his later years, Jerry's faith in our Lord and Savior continued to grow. He faithfully attended Mass and was a proud member of St. Isidore Council of the Knight of Columbus. Jerry lived a simple life based on simple principles. He was a proud man who worked hard and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Jerome is survived by his daughter: Natalie Maychrzak of Bismarck, ND; son and daughter-in law: Neal and Faye Maychrzak of Manchester, TN; granddaughter Alyssa Maychrzak and grandson Austin Maychrzak; son and daughter-in-law: Nolan and Tara Maychrzak of Manchester, TN; granddaughter Harlow Maychrzak and grandson Lawson Maychrzak; brother: Jim Maychrzak; sisters: JoAnn (Eugene) Miller, Julie (Marvin) Schock Jane Bird; sister-in-law: Alberta Maychrzak
He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, parents John and Lydia Maychrzak, brother Jack Maychrzak, nephew Andrew Maychrzak, nephew, Curt Maychrzak, sister-in- law Darlene Maychrzak and brother-in-law Marvin Schock.
