Obituary

Jeanette K. Wutzke, 77, of Bismarck, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Friday, July 9, 2021, at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.  Funeral services for Jeanette will be Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the Bowman Lutheran Church, Bowman, ND at 1:00 pm.  Private interment (for Ron, children and grandchildren) will follow at the Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery, in Amidon.  Visitation will begin Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home in Bowman with a Family and Friends Service at 7:00 p.m.
Jeanette was born on September 4, 1943 to Julius and Harriet (Andersen) Homelvig.   She was raised on a farm west of Amidon, ND, and was educated in Amidon and Bowman, graduating in 1961. While attending North Idaho College she was united in marriage on May 18, 1962, to the love of her life Ron Wutzke in Coeur d'Alene, ID.  Jeanette and Ron's adventures took them to Great Falls, MT, Oklahoma City, OK, and to Northfield, MN in 1970, where they raised their children.  Lifelong learners, both Jeanette and Ron attended and graduated from UND in the mid-1980's, after which they made their home in Bismarck.
Jeanette served others in many ways in her career.   She began as a nurse, and later achieved her degree in social work.   The most rewarding time in her career was the 15 years spent as a licensed addiction counselor in Bismarck.
A baptized and confirmed Lutheran, Jeanette was a spirited and passionate person, a caring mother and grandmother, and a blessing to her family.  She made it a point to be well-informed, and was a voracious reader.   Having ridden her horse to grade school, she had a life-long passion for horses and eventually served as president of the Northfield Saddle Club.   She also served as leader of the Greenvale Cloverites 4-H Club in Dakota County for several years.  Her retirement job, and greatest joy, was gardening.  She became a Master Gardener, and was a long-standing member of the Bismarck Garden Club.  Her talents produced a yard full of beautiful plants, flowers, and bountiful gardens. Jeanette was proud of her Norwegian heritage, and was a member of Sverdrup Lodge in Bismarck for over 20 years.  She enjoyed the annual trips to the Norsk Hostfest each year with family and friends.
Jeanette is survived by her husband Ron, and children, Laurie (Ajit) Kumar, Fort Myers, FL; Lisa (Craig) Bleth, Bismarck, ND; and Jon (Jan) Wutzke, Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.   She is also survived by her sister Paulette Clemenson, Devils Lake, ND; and brothers Lynn (Cindy) Homelvig, Sheyenne, ND; and Loren (Jeanette) Homelvig, Bowman, ND; sister-in-law Lynn Homelvig, Amidon, ND; and many nieces and nephews. Lastly, she is survived by her dog, Scooter, who was a loving and constant companion.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Norman Homelvig and Jerome Homelvig; brother-in-law Dennis Clemenson, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvin and Fern (Aus) Wutzke.
Never wanting to say goodbye, Jeanette's signature sign-off was always "later."  Her spirit and zest for life will be missed by all.
