James "Jim" Fischer, 61, of Bowman, ND, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Southwest Healthcare Hospital in Bowman.

James Richard Fischer, 61, was called home by the Lord while resting peacefully on November 12th, 2015. "Jim" was born on August 27th, 1954 to Richard and Doris Fischer in Bowman, ND. He was raised on the ranch south of Rhame with his sisters, Alice and Cindy, and his brother, Steven.

Jim graduated from high school in Bowman in 1972 and attended college in Fargo. After school, Jim spread his wings and saw the country. He had many experiences on his journey from North Dakota to Florida, Oregon, and eventually finding his way back home.

Jim married his best friend, Denise Leach on July 16th, 1983 under the apple tree on the family ranch, where they made their home. Together they raised three boys, Christopher John, Jason Richard, and Tyler James, with hearts as big as they are. He opened his heart and his home to his niece, Krystal, whom he considered the daughter he never had. Jim's family was his pride and joy and always his top priority.

Jim and his family ran a trucking company full time, although his true passion was his ranch. He always made sure that came first. He was proud to run the ranch his father started and to keep the tradition alive.

Jim and Denise loved to travel and take rides on the Harley. They also found great joy in camping and boating with friends. One memory that will always stand out is the overnight sledding parties in the hills behind the homestead with friends and family. Jim was a member of Knights of Columbus, Abate, and Southwest Bikers.

Jim was known for his big voice and even bigger heart. His chuckle would bring a smile to anyone who heard it, and will always be remembered. He was known throughout the community as the man who would do anything to help a friend. Being the selfless man he was, Jim's final gift was sight and health by being a donor. Jim will always be remembered as a gentle giant with a personality larger than life.

Grateful to have shared his life are: Jim's wife, Denise, sons Chris (Kirsten) and Jason (Kayla), his mother, Doris, sisters Alice (Thad) Magyar, Cindy (Steve) Vitter, his brother, Steven, and numerous nieces and nephews that he was very fond of.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Richard Fischer and his son, Tyler.
