Iris Ellen (Varney) Biggs passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the West River Regional Hospital in Hettinger, ND.
There will be visitation on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 7:00-9:00. The Funeral will be a Private Family Service.
Iris was born October 1, 1936 to John and Eunice (McGee) Varney on the family ranch southwest of Rhame. She attended Sunset Butte grade school and graduated from Rhame High School in 1953. On April 30, 1955 she married Jim Biggs, of Maumee, Ohio. She spent most of her life in the Rhame area. She was a loving, devoted mother to their five children: Melody, Scott, Dawn, Shane and Jamey. Iris (otherwise called "Ov" by her husband Jim) was a wonderful homemaker and her home was a warm, inviting place. Her husband and family were the most important things to her. She and Jim took many drives to enjoy the countryside and nature. She was an avid gardener. Iris was a wonderful cook and could make a gourmet meal out of nothing. The coffee pot was always on for family, friends and neighbors. She and Jim spent many winter nights playing 500 Rummy where she would even let Jim win every now and then. Iris enjoyed bird watching and spending time with her dogs.
As a young woman she accepted Jesus as her personal Lord & Savior. She spent numerous hours reading her Bible and praying. Whenever an opportunity arose, she shared her faith and the love of the Lord with others. Iris was a caring person who always put others ahead of herself right up until her passing.
She will be greatly missed by, Jim, her husband of 56 years; her five
