Helen Georgia Peters was born on February 1, 1919, in Forest City, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and May Peters. She was baptized, confirmed and raised in the Methodist faith. A few years after her father died, Helen's mother, sister and four brothers moved to Cyrus, MN, in August of 1936 and farmed near their grandparents. Helen started her education in Iowa and graduated from Cyrus High School in Minnesota. Helen married Marlyn Anderson while in Minnesota and to this union three children were born; Marvin, Janice and Karen. Marlyn chose not to return to his family when he was discharged from the army and Helen decided to follow her sister and brothers who had moved to North Dakota in 1942. Helen was a music teacher and a 4-H leader when her children were young. After her children were in school, Helen worked at J.C. Penny Co. until it closed. She then managed Lund's Jewelry Store until it closed. Then she worked at the First National Bank for several years until she had some health problems. She then worked at St. Luke's Tri-State Hospital and was a great caregiver. After her retirement, Helen managed the Café at the Bowman Auction Market. Helen enjoyed music, crocheting, sewing, photography, flowers, gardening and took up painting after retirement and painted some wonderful pictures for family and donated some to the School of Promise each year. Helen dearly loved her grandchildren and was privileged to be able to spend a lot of time with them, as well as some of the great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and May Peters, her brothers, Emery and Tom Peters, her sister Doris and Albert Mosbrucker, her sister-in-law, Isabelle Peters, daughter, Karen Heinrich, her son-in-law, Charles Burk, her niece Barbara Jean Peters and nephews, Wade Peters and Gary Mosbrucker. She is survived by her son, Marvin (Annetta) Anderson, her daughter, Janice Burk, son-in-law, Leo Heinrich 7 grandchildren; Gaylord (Billy) Heinrich, Andy Anderson, Ann (Joe) Thayer, Jill (Hewey) Clemmons, Peggy Matheson, Leanne (Pat) Rafferty, and Lori Heinrich; 6 great grandchildren, Lindsey (Daniel) Grooms and Dusty Rafferty; Dalton and Taylor Clemmons, and Morgan and Brady Matheson; brothers, Paul Peters, Eugene (Laura) Peters, and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Peters and Patricia Peters.
