Harlan Abrahamson, 76, was born December 6, 1949, to Chester and Jessie (Dye) Abrahamson in Baker, MT.
Harlan grew up in Bowman, ND, graduating high school in 1967. As a young boy, he dreamt of driving truck —
which he did. Harlan moved to Denver and hauled produce for the McDonald’s Corporation. In 1970, he joined
the Army and returned in 1972 to continue trucking for a few years with Scranton Equity.
In February of 1974, he met the love of his life: Sue Miles. Harlan then bought his first truck in March of the
following year from Darwyn Stebbins. He married Sue five months later on August 23, 1975. The couple trucked
together for years, eventually discovering they were to expect their first son.
Kurt was born on June 28, 1979. They continued to drive with their son until they had a second child on the way.
Justin was born on September 27, 1980. With his family of Sue and their two sons, Harlan was happy with his
life. Even with two sons, Harlan never stopped his trucking; he wanted to see the USA and did just that. In doing
so, he passed down his passion to his boys, taking them along separately before they were enrolled in school. He
trucked from 1975 — 2006, racking up over 1 million miles on the road. In his 31 years, Harlan owned five trucks
— each one having a special place in his heart.
On June 2, 2007, Harlan had a liver transplant that saved his life. He really enjoyed working with his son, Kurt, on
the farm in the summers. Throughout his life, Harlan supported and participated in NASCAR with excitement.
This was most apparent when Justin took a week long vacation with Harlan down to Bristol for Father’s Day. The
father and son enjoyed the time of their life together enjoying all there was to see around the track.
Harlan then retired from Champion in 2019; he and Sue then snow birded in Arizona, meeting many friends
while enjoying the desert heat. In October of 2025, Harlan and Sue had their 50th anniversary. As their gift,
Justin and Kurt, along with their families, gifted the two the trip of a lifetime: an Alaskan cruise. Harlan talked in
excess of the trip until the end. Alaska served as the last state the couple visited in the continental United States
— Hawaii being their only unvisited state.
Harlan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sue Abrahamson; his sons Kurt (Tina) and Justin (Angela) Abrahamson;
his grandchildren Brodey, Riley (Andrea) Abrahamson and Micheal Dyer, Cheyenne Abrahamson; Great Grand-
children Harvey and Susanna Karlson; siblings LeRoy Abrahamson and Les (Kris), Lee (Mary) Fandrick. Preceded
by parents Chester and Jessie Abrahamson; in-laws Don and Colleen Miles; step -dad Albert “Jack Dakota“ Fan-
drick; siblings Doug Abrahamson and Mary Ann Bordwine who passed away on the same day, just a few hours
after Harlan; and Grandson Bradley Abrahamson.
