Genevieve (Genny) Alice Lutz was born on the Hulbert place northwest of Bowman, ND to
Madeline (Mosbrucker) Lutz and Krigor Lutz on May 6, 1931, the 4th of 8 children (4 boys and 4
girls). She attended grade school at rural Star and Cash, then Bowman. After working for
various neighboring farmers, in 1947 she moved to Miles City, Montana and began working at
J.C. Penney Co. While living there, she met her future husband, William (Bill) Mason, who was
working for Montgomery Ward, also in Miles City. A mutual friend introduced them at a dance.
After "courting" for about 2 years, they were married November 17, 1949, at St. Charles
Catholic Church in Bowman.
To this union came three boys: Les (Gail) of Bismarck; Barry (Becky) of Rapid City, SD; and Bill
Jr. (Connie) of Bowman.
After moving back to Bowman in 1958, Genny worked at the Clara Lincoln Hotel for several
years, also helping her dad at the cream station. She then worked at Bowman Super Valu for 33
years, retiring in 2004.
Dancing, motorcycling (for a short time), snowmobiling, playing cards, bowling and entertaining family
and friends were some of the things she enjoyed. Her embroidery work on dish towels was
second to none! Gardening was also something she enjoyed.
Her life changed when her husband Bill entered Southwest Healthcare Center in October of
2021. She continued to live at home until March, 2026.
Genny is survived by sons Les (Gail), Barry (Becky), Bill (Connie), 7 grandchildren and 19 great
grandchildren; brother Bud of Eagan, MN and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Bill, siblings: infant Ruthie, Donald,
Lawrence, Susie, Madonna and Jim, and one grandson, Eric.
No flowers or plants, please! In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorial
donations be made to St. Charles Catholic Church in Genny's name. Thank you to all of Mom;s special friends who made her last years more special.
