Gene C. Thomas' Obituary
Gene C. Thomas, 83 of Bowman, ND, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center in Bowman.
Funeral Services for Gene will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bowman Lutheran Church. Pastor Charles Swanson and Pastor Galen Strand will officiate with burial to follow in the Bowman Cemetery. There will be a Family and Friends service on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitational will begin on Thusday, April 14, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Funeral Home.
Gene Carol Thomas was born in Bowman County on April 16, 1927 to Alfred and Agnes (Hirsch) Thorson. She graduated from Bowman High School in 1945. Right after High School, Gene attended the Presentation School of Nursing in Aberdeen, SD, and received her RN degree in 1947. Gene married Wayne Thomas in September of 1948 and to this union, five children were born. Gene worked as the Bowman County Health Nurse until moving to Miles City in 1954. She worked at the Nursing Home and Hospital while in Miles City. They returned t Bowman in 1964. She accepted the position as Nursing Supervisor at the Sunset Home in January of 1965. She retired in 1987 after 40 years of Nursing. She also worked at the Bowman Rec. Center. Gene enjoyed spending time with her gradchildren and great grandchildren, playing solitaire, bingo, keeping her lawn meticulous and growing flowers. She loved to visit over a cup of coffee. Gene was always there to help out with her grandkids and great grandkids. She was a kind caretaker to all who needed someone.
Gene is survived by her children; Candy (Jeff) Jung, TerryThomas, daughter-in-law, Peggy Thomas, Bonnie Stroh, Cheryl Thomas and Mary Cady; Jerry and Marlys who adopted her as their second mother; one aunt, Sally Schaff; one sister, Delores Shear; grandchildren, Wendy Rambough, Paula (Damon) Reitz, Dave (Carrie) Germann, Dallas Germann, Mike (Patti) Jung, Shawnel (Dave) Burke, Jodee (Clint) Jacobs, Jaime Stroh, Fawn Schneider, Aaron Thomas, Allison (Scott) Hoge, Amie Kalina, Adam Cady, Andrea Cady and Jenn Thomas; 21 great grandchildren and numberous neices and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter and two sisters, Aileen Doyle and Dorothy Soriede.
