Gary G. Lewton, 73, of Bowman, ND, passed away on March 21, 2025 at his home in Bowman.
Memorial Services for Gary will be held on Wednesday, March 26th at 1:00 pm at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel in Bowman.
Gary Gene Lewton was born in Bowman, ND on October 23, 1951 to Dean and Leona (Kivimaki) Lewton. He was the eldest of eight children raised on the family farm south of Bowman. Gary attended Lone Tree Country School through eighth grade, followed by high school in Bowman where he graduated in 1969. Gary attended college for a time in Bismarck and Spearfish, then returned to Bowman and began working in a variety of areas through the years, including carpentry, building pole barns with his brothers, crop spraying, along with many years of farming and mechanic work.
Gary was united in marriage to Doreen Fadness on April 18, 1974. Four children were born of this union: Ali, Renae, Quinn, and Rachel.
Gary enjoyed drinking coffee and visiting with family and friends, talking on the CB radio, and woodworking. He had an inventive mind that aided him in building a number of structures and projects through the years, most recently an arbor and a deck for the backyard. He and his friend, Kathy, planted and cared for an elaborate garden every summer. Gary also had a collection of guns that he loved to discuss and admire with his son and his brothers or do some target shooting at the farm.
Gary will be remembered for his sparkling blue eyes, hearty laugh, and expressive storytelling.
Gary is survived by his children, Ali (Matthew) Mohs, Renae (Brad) Streifel, Quinn (Shalisa) Lewton, and Rachel (Treston) Andersen; grandchildren Nicholas, Lauren, and Grace Mohs; Eylie, Benjamin, and Sydney Streifel; Anberlynn, Berkeley, Camberleigh, and Daxtyn Lewton; and Blair, Crew, and Tuck Andersen; brothers Jerry (Candice) Lewton, Mick (Mary) Lewton, Tim (Cheryl) Lewton, and David Lewton; sisters Laurie (Terry) Hafner and Penny (Kelly) Binek; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kathy Wyman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Leona Lewton; brother Steven Lewton, and nephew Zachary Lewton.
