Obituary

Frank Buzalsky, 64, of Amidon, ND, passed away on September 21, 2023 at the Sandford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.

Memorial Services for Frank will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 7:00pm at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel in Bowman.

Frank Joseph was born in Dickinson, ND, on February 28, 1959 to Teresa (Ott) and Leo Buzalsky. Frank was the youngest in the family with 5 older sisters. As a child he was expected to pitch in and help with the farm work including milking the cows, hauling square bales, and whatever else needed to be done.

Frank attended 8 years of grade school at Connor Elementary, a one room school just east of the family farm. He attended Bowman High School where he participated in football, basketball and wrestling, graduating in 1977. After graduation he attended the North Dakota State School of Science at Whapeton for 1 year then transferred to UND-Williston where he graduated in 1979 with a degree in farm and ranch management. After college graduation he went back home to help run the family farm.

On April 15, 1983, Frank married Lorrie Miller. To this union two sons were born, Leo in 1984 and Michael in 1986.Frank was very proud that both of his boys graduated from college with engineering degrees.

Frank and Lorrie remained on the family farm raising many different animals through the years including beef and dairy cattle, hogs, sheep, and goats. Frank also worked as a bar tender at the Flagstone and on the oil drilling rigs for Nabors Drilling.

Frank always loved his sports. He played county league basketball for several years until he decided he was too old and switched to bowling. Bowling gave him the chance to travel when going to the National tournaments in New Orleans and Reno. He could often be found watching his favorite sports teams, the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings, and yelling at them when they were not playing well.

In his younger years Frank was active in the Slope County Farmers Union and the District 39 DEM-NPL. Frank loved small children but because of his size they were often afraid of him until after he bribed them with goodies. He spent many years as a 4-H leader who enjoyed helping the kids and encouraging them to do their best. He was also active with the local youth bowling, setting up scholarship money for the kids that bowled.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Teresa and Leo Buzalsky and his daughter-in-law Amy Buzalsky.

Frank is survived by his wife Lorrie; sons Leo (special friend Allyson Mahoney), Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Michael (LaToya), Bowman, North Dakota; Grandchildren Kylie Roth, Joseph and Lydia Buzalsky, Bowman, ND; Mother and Father-in-Law Joann and Eugene Miller, Rhame, ND; Sisters Teresa (Garry) Miller, Savage, MT; Mary Dennis, Bismarck, ND; Susan (Ken) Heck, Belfield, ND; Patricia Stoxen, Bismarck, ND; and Leona (Bob) Freymiller, Buffalo Springs, ND; Brother-in-law Wes (Wanda) Miller, Rhame, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
