Evelyn Pauline Brown (Claymore) , 93, of Reeder, ND passed away on May 31, 2022 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND surrounded by her family .

Evelyn was born to Paul and Rose (Gayton) Claymore in Fort Yates, North Dakota on August 15, 1928 . Growing up in Wakpala, SD, s he was k nown as " Babe " to her family and close friends .

She met Jim (James) Brown in Mobridge, SD at the Rustic Inn, or as Jim and Evelyn called it, The Corner of Love. They were married in Lawrence, KS on October 14, 1960. Evelyn brought two daughters to the marriage , Lolli and Pam. They welcomed Khristine in 1965, PJ in 1966, and Kari in 1968. Jim and Evelyn also raised their 3 grandsons, Darwin, Dustin, and Darrell as their own. They lived and raised their family in Reeder, ND.

She waitressed in Mobridge, Deadwood, and Spearfish, South Dakota. She worked for the Sunset Care Corporation as a nurse's aide in the n ursing h ome in Bowman, ND before having to retire due to health issues.

Evelyn loved to cook and bake for her family.  Many Christmases were spent at her home in Reeder with lots of memories made. Our favorite memory is when Grandma fell into her Christmas tree and was forced to wait for Papa to come to her rescue.

She never forgot her roots ; nor the family that she had in South Dakota . She spoke very fondly of all her nieces and nephews.

Family was very important to her , but most of all, her grandchildren. Grandma was so proud of them all and never missed an opportunity for a hug or kiss . Any time spent with them, even if brief, meant the world to both her and Papa Jim.

Evelyn will be deeply missed by her husband of 62 years and her children and their families: Khris and Vic Hakanson of Rapid City, SD; PJ and Ann Brown of Ham Lake, MN; Kari and Wes Schwarzwalter of Reeder, ND; Dar and Amanda Brown of Minot, ND; Dustin Marshall of Kenel, SD; Darrell and Ana Marshall of Phoenix, AZ ; her grandchildren: Chelsey and Justin Storlie of Bowman, ND; Katie Brown of M aple Grove , MN; Tori Brown of Ham Lake , MN; Megan and Dan Field of Bismarck, ND; Kellie and Tyson Symanowski of Scranton, ND; John Schwarzwalter of Loveland, CO; Mi chelle and Mike Stone of Devils Lake, ND; Jamie and Steve Vetter of Bismarck, ND ; and 21 great grandchildren and soon to be one great-great grandchild .

The last of the Claymore family, she is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Rose, daughters Pamela Marshall and Lolli (Laurel) Claymore , and her siblings Samuel, Clifford, Wesley, Sylvia, Arlene, Marie, Roseann, and Helen, and three that died in infancy.
