Esther Barbara Lininger was born 17 June 1928 of Irvin and Matilda (Schaff) Herman in Bowman County, North Dakota. She graduated from Bowman High School.
Esther was united in marriage to Roy Lininger on 5 April 1948. They were blessed with four children, Fred, Blain, Ken and Mamie. They started farming south of Bowman then moved north of Scranton and farmed and ranched until 1988.
Esther was a member of the Friendship Homemakers Club, rural Scranton area and loved to play volleyball at the Scranton school gym. She was also an integral part of and very proud of her children's 4H projects. Esther and family worked long and hard on the farm/ranch.
After selling the farm/ranch around 1989 Esther moved into the home her mother built and lived in Bowman ND. The joy she had in her later years included her travels. Which started with her newly acquired passport. She headed to China and loved everything about her trip. Next was a cruise trip to Alaska, and more traveling in the continental United States.
For the last 12 years Esther and Mamie traveled to Magnolia Village, Donna Texas to spend the cold and snowy winters in Texas's more pleasant climate. She loved to watch game shows, played cards all her life and wore out at least five electronic solitaire games. Esther and Mamie were more than mother and daughter they were best of friends. In the summer she loved spending time outside on her swing with close friends; Joann Domagala, Tim and Viv Pendegrass, Haley Dingfelder, Karen Feist and others.
On 2 February 2020 Esther passed away at Knapp Medical Center, Weslaco, Texas at 91 ½ years young.
