scranton
Elaine Mandrell, 83, of Scranton, ND, passed away at the Western Horizons Living Center in Hettinger on September 4, 2023.
Memorial Services for Elaine will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel in Bowman. Pastor Renee Johnson will be officiating the services.
Elaine Mandrell, formerly Elaine Etheridge, was born on April 29, 1940, in Aledo, Illinois, to parents Helen and Edward Etheridge. Growing up, she had six siblings as companions. Elaine attended school in Aledo until the 11th grade. She pursued her education in her sixties and proudly obtained her GED in 1995. Elaine was married twice in her lifetime. Her first marriage was with Curtis Moore in 1957, with whom she had three children named Teri, Tracey, and Todd. In October of 1987, she married Charles Mandrell.
Elaine worked at Plaza North, an 84-lane bowling alley in Davenport, Iowa, where she established many friendships over her twenty years of service. Ready for a change, Elaine began working for Sears. She worked passionately and enthusiastically for over twenty-three years and gained experience in every department. In 2010, Elaine retired due to health reasons.
She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed many activities with her husband, Charlie, such as traveling, bowling, and camping. In 2018, they relocated to Scranton to be near family. Sadly, in 2020, Charlie passed away at the age of 91. Elaine's health declined, and in 2021, she had to relocate to the Western Horizon Care Center, where she resided until her passing.
Elaine is survived by her children Teri (Dave) Hollingsworth, Tracey (Todd) Green, and Todd (Brenda) Moore, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers George and Stuart Etheridge, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her parents, sisters Janice and Marsha, brothers Earl and Jack, and grandson Ryan Piatt.
