Dorothy was born May 15, 1933, in Bowman, ND to Mike and Regina Hirsch. Later Bernice and Jim joined the family. She attended Star School where she enjoyed the play days and made many life-long friends. She also attended Bowman High School. Dorothy grew up on the family farm, milking cows and toning her excellent baking skills.
Dorothy entered into marriage to Don Eldringhoff November 19, 1949. Don and Dorothy worked together to raise their family of five, ranching and milking cows. Her milk barn was always as clean as her house. They sold the milk cows in 1978.
Dorothy worked at Gene's Restaurant which she held on and off for several years and started working at Bowman County School as a cafeteria cook from 1978 to 1998. The kids thought she made the best buns in school. It was more than just a job, her co-workers were her dear friends.
Her dream was to be a race car driver, which she fulfilled every day she drove a car. Pedal to the metal and the race was on. She had a special bond with son Patrick listening to hard rock music. She entertained a house full of company, enjoying her baked goods (cinnamon twists, popcorn balls, divinity, and fudge). No one left her house hungry.
When she retired Dorothy took up gambling. Her card playing ladies met once a week and what a fun time they had. Dorothy moved into the nursing home after a fall in 2020. She was active in St. Charles Catholic Church, taught CCD, was a Eucharistic Minister, and belonged to Catholic Daughters.

A very special sister Bernice Arnett, a sister-in-law Betty Hirsch, and brothers-in-law Al and Moris Eldringhoff. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, brother Jim, and numerous relatives.
