Dennis Dean Olson passed away in a tragic car accident on October 17, 2022 when God saw fit to take him to Heaven. Dennis was born on May 11, 1945, to Russell and Pearl Olson in his Grandpa Alfred Moor's house in Slope County, North Dakota. He spent his whole life working on his father's farm and ranch.
Dennis struggled with major depression and anxiety most of his life. These mental issues kept him from accomplishing a lot that he would've liked to accomplish in life. But he was a very talented self-taught mechanic. He saved the farm many dollars fixing machinery over the years, and he didn't mind getting greased up in the process.
On June 30th, 1973, Dennis married Laura Justice from Ridgeway, Virginia. To this union were born two rambunctious boys whom Dennis dearly loved—Danelle Dean and Daryl Dennis. He was very proud of who his sons became.
Dennis was a faithful attendant of Bowman Assembly of God for many years. He surrendered his life to Jesus as a teenager and served Him the rest of his life. Dennis had a beautiful singing voice, although not many people got to hear it. His church would have Singspiration nights once in a while, and one of his favorite activities to participate in was the Hymn Guess. He only needed to hear the first few notes of a hymn, and he could guess what it was long before anyone else. He had a true love for old hymns and could sing many of them from memory. Even with joys like these, life had become a burden for Dennis. The Lord released him from that burden, and although we will miss him, we surrender him to God to spend eternity with his Savior.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Pearl (Moor) Olson, and sister, Janice White. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Laura (Justice); his siblings, Annette (John) Culbertson, Lois, Melvin (Annette), Myron, and Lorene Olson; his two sons, Danelle of Jamestown, ND and Daryl (Dana) of Gloucester, MA; and the granddaughters he was so proud of, Alaina (Casey) Selzler, Macy (Karl) Brandt, Hannah, Grace, and Elizabeth Olson.
Memorials will be sent to Haili Christian School, where Dennis's sister Lorene teaches in Hawaii.
