Dennis Bagley was born on August 11, 1942, in Gem Township in Bowman County, Bowman, ND, the son of Walter and Ellen (Gross) Bagley. He was the youngest of seven children. He was raised on the family farm 8 miles south of Bowman and attended rural Gem School. After the family moved into a new home in Bowman, he continued his education in the Bowman Public Schools.
From a young age, Dennis brought a unique perspective to the world. He lived at home with his family until the passing of his father. He then found comfort and community in several group homes. Jackson Group Home in Harvey, became his new home. Here he became one of the family. He worked at the Harvey HAV-IT Center doing various jobs around the community. He enjoyed shopping trips and even a few vacations where they traveled to Bowman to visit his family. In September 2025, Dennis moved to Tri City Care Home in Tioga, ND.
One of Dennis' many joys in life was fishing. His father had taught him how to fish at a very young age. When we would ask him what he wanted for a birthday or Christmas, the first thing on his list was always a fishing pole. Dennis' favorite pastime was watching gunfights in old western John Wayne movies.
Dennis' quick wit and humor brightened the lives of everyone that knew him. He faced life's challenges with a remarkable resilience and was never one to complain. Though we are deeply saddened by his passing, our memories of his witty humor, and fun spirit will forever live in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ellen Bagley, his sisters and brothers in law: Elaine (Vic Czywczynski and Clint Hofland), Marion Bagley, Ferne (Donald) Freitag, Joy (James) Swanson, Delores Scally, brother Walter Glen Bagley, nephews; Billy Freitag, Bryan Freitag, Johnny Scally, Alan Czywczynski, Larry Czywczynski, niece Patty Scally, great nephew Scott Czywczynski and great-great-niece Ellie Johnson.
Dennis is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
