Dean Erwin Kahrs was born February 22, 1944 in Clay Center KS, son of Lawrence and Gladys (Thune) Kahrs. We lost Dean to a hard fast battle with cancer on April 5, 2026 surrounded by family.
Dean grew up in Clifton KS. His love of cars started at a very young age there. This love of cars had him going to trade school in ND for mechanics, he later attended several specialty classes for large engines in the oil and gas industry. He's a different kind of Dr… a Dr. of motors. Dean wasn't the kind of guy to sit around. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, boating and being a part time
"lumberjack" … any recreational vehicle fun; if it was outdoors he loved it! Dean was expressive in many ways, each of you have your own memories of what this means. He was far from boring.
Dean is survived by his wife Charlotte, Daughter Sue (Mark) Erickson, Son Ed (Helena) Kahrs, 6 Grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by various family members, his son Brian and a Great Grandchild. Throughout the years and the 30 plus moves, Dean was a member of many organizations. Dean and Charlotte owned and ran several businesses.
Now let's talk vehicles… There is NO way we could ever count all the ones he's owned. If it had a motor and it didn't fly he probably owned it at some point. Everything from an amphibious vehicle to… oh wait, to many to list! Winter, Summer, Spring and Fall he had vehicles for them ALL!
