He graduated from Rhame High School in 1968. He married Evie Walser on September 26, 1970 in Rhame. He and Evie made their home on the old McMaster Place south of Rhame. To this marriage was born one daughter, Teri and two sons, Ryan and Dwight.

He enjoyed welding along with other farm projects. Many conversations took place at the homeplace shop or kitchen booth. This is where his teachings and advice would be given, along with a hot cup of coffee and a smile.
Health issues which began in 2009, began a medical journey for Dallas, Evie and family. Along this journey he was given a second chance at life from a successful lung transplant. Dallas and Evie's determination lead to Dallas and his family having two more years of cherished memories.
