Cheryl Kay Anders (1953 – 2012)

Memorial Services for Cheryl will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the First Lutheran church in Rhame, ND. Pastor Galen Strand will officiate with burial of her ashes to follow in the Tuttle Cemetery, rural Rhame.

Cheryl Anders was born January 29, 1953 to Melford and Phyllis Hendrickson in Bowman, North Dakota. She passed away on Tuesday, May 9th 2012. Cheryl enjoyed her early childhood days in Rhame, North Dakota with many happy memories. She graduated from Rhame High School. After high school Cheryl attended North Dakota State School of Science where she was trained and certified as a computer operator.

Cheryl started her family in Casper, Wyoming with the birth of Sunshine Leigh, and Sabrina Rae. They moved to Ellensburg in 1981.

Once in Ellensburg Cheryl was able to put her skills to work operating the computers at the Daily Record Newspaper preparing type for the newspaper. Within several years Record Printing, Packaging and Design hired Cheryl to operate their design computers. She took care of design and preflight operations for printing. She was responsible for two magazine bi-monthly publications and would oversee the preflight of packaging work. She worked there for close to 30 years up until her passing.

Cheryl lived in Ellensburg from 1981 until her passing.
She enjoyed being around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participating in their lives as much as possible. She was also a very avid sports fan, anything from NASCAR to baseball. Go Seahawks! Go Mariners!

She enjoyed keeping a beautiful yard and garden of flowers with Terry, Cheryl's life partner. The last years of Cheryl's life were a joy for her surrounded by family activities and doing the things she loved. One of her greatest accomplishments was to put together a 100-year family history of the homestead and it's ancestors for a family reunion of over 100 people in 2009.

Cheryl's beliefs came from the strong North Dakota farm ethics - to do the job right, strength in family and making the home a place for comfort with an open door for family, friends and neighbors.

Cheryl cherished spending time with her grandchildren Caleb Baker, Alisa Porter (Julian Gutierrez), Austin Porter. Great grandchildren Cayden Baker, Carson Gutierrez, and Nathan Gutierrez.

Cheryl was preceeded in death by her mother and father, grandmother and grandfather.
She is survived by her children Sunshine Porter, Sabrina (Jesus) Valencia.
Her life partner Terry Faber.
Her siblings Gerald (Donna) Hendrickson, Pat (George) Day, Dorothy Tenney, Jon (Berna) Hendrickson, Beth (Kevin) Schieve. Aunts and Uncles Ernie (Hazel) Hendrickson, May Luff and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cheryl enjoyed her last weekend at the beach celebrating her aunt May's 85th birthday, with lots of family and friends.

Cheryl's ashes will be taken after the memorial to her childhood home in Rhame, North Dakota.
They will arrive in her Red Chariot!
