Carolyn May Underdahl, 87, passed away Dec. 25, 2022, at Southwest Healthcare Services in Bowman, ND.

On July 28, 1935, Carolyn was born in Bay City, MI to John and Dorothy DeBats. There, along with a sister and a brother, she was raised by her loving parents, graduated from Central High School, then married and had three children of her own. The family moved to Sanford, MI in 1973, where Carolyn lived until she moved to North Dakota in 1985 after remarrying. Her remaining years were all spent as a resident of North Dakota.

Carolyn enjoyed baking, traveling and sewing, willingly mending for anyone in need. She absolutely loved jewelry and was never without her rings. Carolyn worked at a jewelry store for many years where she acquired quite an extensive knowledge of gemstones and precious metals. She was also known for her love of adventure, great sense of humor and was like a grandma to neighborhood children.

She is proceeded in death by parents John and Dorothy DeBats, sister Gladys Chambers, son Aaron Blake, and brother Martin DeBats.

She is survived by daughters Beth Billingsley and Cynthia Blake; grandchildren Jessica Billingsley, Forest (Val) Billingsley, Benjamin Blake, and Emily Blake; great grandchildren Kara, Kylie, Forest, Dylan and Bennet; daughter-in-law Amy Blake; nephew, nieces; great nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life will be held for Carolyn in Amidon, ND at a date to be arranged.

Carolyn will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
