Brian was a larger than life man who made a positive and lasting impact on every individual he met from his cherished children and family to coworkers and business acquaintances to the homeless biker on the side of the road he stopped to help.  He will be missed every single day but has left us with enough memories and life lessons to last until we see him again.

Brian was born in Hettinger ND, on September 22, 1953, to Bill and Betty (Holecek) Fisher. He was the second of four children to be raised on the family farm at Buffalo Springs, ND.  His life on the farm gave him an appreciation for the rural way of life and a life-long love for the land and every critter he ever met, but especially his favorite dogs, Muffy, Carmie, and Rowdy.  He attended school in Buffalo Springs and Scranton, graduating from Scranton High School in 1971.  He continued his education at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND and at Dickinson State University in Dickinson, ND for a time before moving to the Black Hills and working at radio stations in Rapid City.  Here he found his "voice" and true calling as an on-air talent.  He returned to the University of North Dakota to finish his degree in Broadcast Journalism, graduating in December 1979.  During these UND years, he developed a strong loyalty to the "Fighting Sioux," most especially his passion for UND Hockey. Seldom did he miss the opportunity to listen to, watch, or attend a UND hockey match.

While at UND, he met Pam and they married in 1981.  At about the same time, Brian went to work at the new radio station in Bowman, "Goodtime Radio KPOK."  For the next 25 years, Brian was the voice and face of KPOK adding advertising sales and management to his on-air responsibilities.  On the side, he began his own DJ dance business, the "Dr's Dance Company," playing his first dance on May 21, 1986.  For 34 years he provided music and entertainment for many of the special events and ordinary evenings in the lives of people all across the western Dakotas. Those he encountered along the way affectionately knew him as "Doc".  He mentored many young talented men and women as part-timers at KPOK and Dr's Dance Company roadies.

Brian built a family life during these years bringing home Jordan in 1991 and Becca in 1997.  His children were the light of his life.  He shared his passions with his kids.  They grew up with music booming, guitars playing, camping and fishing, riding dirt bikes, and occasionally riding a horse! He was a proud dad reveling in their accomplishments and supporting them in their ventures.

When he and Pam divorced in 2008, he returned to the other place that held his heart, the Black Hills and Rapid City.  He continued to work in radio, on-air and in sales, along with working in print advertising at the Quik Quarter. He developed many new friendships including his special friend and love, Wendie Estes.

Brian used his talents to promote and support the communities in which he lived.  He frequently emceed community events, anything and everything from the Bowman County Fair to Kool Deadwood Nights. He was known for his great radio interview skills. He helped preserve the history of his Bowman County home with interviews for the Bowman County Historical Society, talked with Kindergarten students as they came to visit when learning the letter "R," and many a time held community leaders and politicians accountable for decisions and actions. However, his great love was play-by-play sports.  He spent countless hours in the crow's nest at gymnasiums and fields in southwest North Dakota and the Black Hills area calling the action for listeners.  He loved seeing the achievements of high school athletes and painting a vivid picture for those who listened to the game. Oh, so many times we heard those final words, "So long sports fans!"

Left to mourn his absence from our lives are his beloved children Jordan (Kyla) Fisher of Scranton, ND; Becca (Cole) Fisher of Rapid City, SD; his grandchildren Natalie, Gemma, and Rocco; brothers Bart (Kay) of Bowman, ND, Blair (Sara) of Missoula MT; sister Brenda (Cleve) Teske of Scranton, ND; his special friend Wendie Estes and many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

Meeting him in heaven are his parents, Bill and Betty Fisher; his special cousin, Albie; and his faithful companion, Rowdy.

Brian lived life fully for the 67 years we had with him.  We remember his passions, his voice, his commitment, his sage advice.  We smile, move forward, and like at one of his dances, swing it back onto the dance floor.
